Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Afrah Mediterranean Restaurant in Richardson, Texas, and I can honestly say this place is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever visited. From start to finish, everything about the experience was exceptional. The moment we walked through the door, we were greeted with a warm smile and a genuine welcome. That first impression really set the tone for the entire evening. The restaurant itself is spacious, beautifully maintained, and spotless. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between elegant and comfortable, making it great for both casual dining and special occasions. Now let’s talk about the food — which is absolutely out of this world. Afrah offers an incredible selection of authentic Mediterranean dishes, from hot and cold mezza to hearty main courses and desserts. Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. You can truly taste the quality ingredients and the care that goes into every bite. A special mention goes to Chef Joe. His experience and talent shine through in every dish that leaves the kitchen. It’s clear he has mastered the art of Mediterranean cooking, and the passion he brings to his food makes the dining experience that much more memorable. The mezza dishes were a highlight — vibrant, fresh, and packed with authentic flavors. Whether you enjoy classics like hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, or more elaborate hot appetizers, there’s something to please every palate. Moving on to the main courses, the variety was impressive, and everything was cooked to perfection. Tender meats, aromatic spices, and generous portions made each dish stand out. And then came the desserts, which were just as remarkable. From traditional Middle Eastern sweets to more modern offerings, Afrah has a dessert menu that will satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth. Each dessert was rich, balanced, and beautifully presented. One unique feature that makes Afrah stand out even more is that they also offer shisha. If you’re in the mood to relax after your meal, it’s a great way to unwind with friends or family in a comfortable setting. Overall, my first visit to Afrah Mediterranean Restaurant exceeded every expectation. The combination of outstanding hospitality, a welcoming atmosphere, a wide variety of authentic dishes, and top-notch service makes this restaurant a true gem in Richardson. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates great food and great service. Whether you’re new to Mediterranean cuisine or already love it, Afrah is the kind of restaurant that will impress you from the first visit and keep you coming back. Read moreSo my husband, infant, and I came in last night. We arrived fairly late, about 9:40-10pm. We were seated quickly, the waiter was brisk, courteous, and on point. If you don't feel like being bothered, I think it was a good performance. Our drinks were looked after occasionally, not hawking you every 5 minutes, but acceptable for the meal. We sat our son's car seat on the booth side of the table with no issues. The food came out promptly, hummus appetizer first($7-8). Garnished with a single black/kalamata olive, about 2 strips of pickled turnip, and a splash of olive oil. Hummus was fresh and clean, didn't have that almost fermented funky flavor you get with some places. Don't get me wrong, we like fermented funk sometimes, just not in our hummus. The waiter brought us piping hot fresh baked pita with the hummus on arrival, and then a 2nd round of pita before we finished the first set. A good pace so far. About 10-15 minutes after that bread replacement, our main courses came. Which was perfect, as we still weren't done with the hummus. I ordered Beef shawarma combo, the shawarma was $8-9 alone, combo fries with a drink was $4 more(free refills on soda). Husband had tried the beef shawarma before, it's good guys. He ordered 1 beef shawarma and 1 chicken shawarma, needed to try the chicken. The chicken comes with fries inside the wrap, not a bad consistency. However, it came with about half the amount of pickle as the beef and no turnip. Overall a bit disappointed, granted I think the chicken deserves a spicy sauce. It may have counteracted that lack of flavor missing the other ingredients. We recieved no tomato at all, a small regret for my husband. The beef however remained wonderful, even after I saved it for later and am eating as I write this. I want to say cardamom and clove are mixed in the beef, with plenty of pickles and turnips. I have applied some heat here at home, via ghost pepper and habanero. Both are good but habanero is best. Anyways, going back to the restaurant. Waiter got us our to-go containers and check quickly. I went to get some baklava at the deli bar. The baklava was still $5 for 4 pieces at checkout, which was nice. Only complaint with our night here, was some price variations in person on the menu vs. what is listed on the websites menu. It's not a drastic difference, but it's basically the only issue we had. I'm sorry we can't review the restrooms, it was not relevant for our visit. Another great plus though- they're one of the only food joints, open until 12-1 am that serves Mediterranean food. I wish we could try the lunch buffet, but it's not conducive to...
