Three stars at the most! I don’t understand all those great reviews... maybe they used to cook good Italian food, but they certainly don’t do it now, at least not on mondays. We usually go to Niki’s Italian Bistro III in Murphy, and LOVE it! But this time I decided to try something new... BIG MISTAKE! The interior is nice, nice patio, good looking bar - those are the only reasons I am not giving 1 star. However, try not to look up - the air filters on the ceiling are so disgustingly filthy, you are risking to loose your appetite for good! The service was decent, but then again - it was Monday, and the place was pretty empty. The bread was plain with VERY plain dip, didn’t even bother to add some Parmesan to it - oil with tiny drops of vinegar at the bottom, no spices either.. calamari were fried fresh, but that’s the only good thing I can say about them. Very greasy, plain as could be! I am not a fan of salt, but gees chef, have you ever even heard of it??? Maybe you should use it some time, in moderation of course! The dipping sauce to calamari was a JOKE: oil on top with some tomato substance at the bottom, not even mixed! As if calamari weren’t greasy enough! To be fair, the sauce had a little heat to it after you get pass the greasiness and unpleasant texture. Carbonara was the epic failure! I cook it at home and I tried it in many places, including restaurants in Italy... this is my favorite fish and until yesterday I was under inpression nobody can spoil it. Boy, was I wrong! The sauce was so ridiculously greasy and fat, I can’t dig my pasta out! And yes, it’s was also as bland as could be! Tiramisu was OK... just OK, nothing spectacular, kind of on the watery side. Long story short - I woke up in the middle of the night with stomach ache from all the grease, and mind you, I have never had trouble with my stomach, neither did I ate that much last night. I am still at loss about all those great reviews for this place! I was not impressed at...
Read moreOur experience started off strong with appetizers (trio bruschette & fried burrata) … then it went downhill from there. We were 3/4 done with our apps when we noticed we hadn’t received a bread basket, however the table next to us got one fairly quickly. After asking our server about it, she dropped off a basket with 4 rolls. They looked/tasted dry and felt dense. No butter in sight. I ordered gnocchi alla sorrentina, and my boyfriend ordered farfalle alla vodka. Upon trying my dish, all I could think about was how it tasted funky… almost fishy! I kept mixing my food around thinking maybe I hit a bad spot. Nope. I had my boyfriend try it, and he agreed. Not only was the taste off, the texture was all over the place! Big chunks of crunchy onion (!!) and whole cherry tomatoes that weren’t even entirely softened. The gnocchi itself was not impressive. Would not recommend this dish. My boyfriend’s plate was slightly more bearable, however there were also big chunks of crunchy onion (seriously, I guess the chef really likes onion!) and a LOT of sun dried tomato chunks that got to be really annoying after a while. Our waiter was kind enough to take my dish off the receipt (🙏🏻). I ordered their tiramisu dessert drink to end the night and was also not impressed. It tasted watered down. The lady finger was a nice touch though. Overall, I would not go back, nor could I recommend. I wish I could receive a refund on the whole experience. Roman Cucina, I’m sorry we...
