I wanted to share my recent experience at Old Damascus, as I believe it is important for you to know about the concerns I encountered. I hope this feedback will help management improve their services and provide a better experience for their customers.
Over the weekend, my family and I attempted to have a meal at Old Damascus. We were excited to try the restaurant, especially after seeing the great advertising, albeit I do believe some of the reviews are fake or made by people they know. We saw the hours of operation were stated as 12 PM to 10 PM, seven days a week. However, upon arrival around 7 PM, we were turned away at the door and informed that the kitchen was closed unless we had a reservation.
While I understand the importance of reservations, especially during peak hours, I was disappointed by this policy considering there were only a few people inside the restaurant at the time. If the establishment was packed, I would have understood the need for reservations. However, this was not the case, and it seemed like there was ample space to accommodate more customers. I would like to suggest considering an adjustment to your hours, perhaps shortening them to 8 PM if it is not possible to serve customers beyond that time. Additionally, it would be helpful to clearly state your preference for reservations in your advertising to manage customer expectations.
Furthermore, as we approached the entrance, we noticed that some of your hostess staff was smoking cigarettes just outside the front door. While I understand that employees have their breaks, it might be worth considering designating a smoking area away from the entrance to ensure a more pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for your guests.
It is unfortunate that I did not have the opportunity to try the food and provide a more thorough review. Based on my experience, it seems like there are certain operational aspects that could be improved upon to enhance the overall dining experience at Old Damascus.
I hope you find my feedback constructive. I believe that with some adjustments and refinements, Old Damascus can truly excel in providing a memorable dining experience for its customers. I look forward to hearing about any changes or improvements you may implement...
Read moreI’m typically not one to give a bad review, but I feel our experience at Old Damascus warranted it. My family and I are all from Damascus, Syria and we were very excited that a restaurant of our heritage opened in the area. The one thing this restaurant has is beautiful decor. After that it was a very disappointing experience. I understand new restaurants need the benefit of the doubt and time to learn, adjust and adapt, but it was no excuse for the poor management and food. We got there at 7 pm and we’re seated in an awkward round table next to the restroom. We requested to be moved to empty tables with no reservation signs and we’re moved shortly then forgotten about. The staff was all over the place and we never had one person clarify themselves as our waiter. We put in an order of appetizers and then 10 minutes later put in our entree orders. 8 pm (1 hour later) rolls around, were empty on drinks, the AC is not on/or barely on and we were burning up in there, no simple appetizers (hummus) ever made it to our table and we couldn’t find anyone to talk to. Finally 2 entrees came which was just the shawarma sandwich. We took the first bite and instantly stopped. It was far from a shawarma sandwich and the taste was very stomach upsetting. Now it’s 8:30 and we’re asking about our appetizers and entrees only to learn the orders we’re forgotten about and lost and needed to be put in again. We ended up paying for the sandwiches we couldn’t eat and went elsewhere. As a Syrian I have to say this is not an accurate representation of authentic Syrian food or what it tastes like whatsoever. Also, the good reviews on here are all fake bots and it’s very strange. I really hope they change the poor management and food, because...
