Sweetwaters Coffee Shop has truly become a second home for me since I moved to Plano a few months ago. It was the very first coffee shop I ventured into to study, and little did I know that it would soon become an essential part of my daily routine. As I sit here with my delicious cinnamon scone and steaming latte, I feel compelled to share my love and gratitude for this incredible establishment.
The moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by an atmosphere that can only be described as warm and welcoming. The staff here is beyond exceptional. It's evident that their utmost desire is to ensure that every customer leaves with a smile on their face. From the moment you enter until the moment you depart, their commitment to making your experience the best it can be is palpable.
A special shout-out goes to the ever-smiling and incredibly helpful manager, Janella. Her dedication to ensuring that every customer's visit is special is truly remarkable. She has a talent for making you feel like a valued guest, and she always goes the extra mile to assist you in finding the perfect drink or food item. No matter how busy the shop gets, she never fails to get your order to you as fast as possible, all while maintaining that radiant smile.
Now, let's talk about the food and drinks. Sweetwaters Coffee Shop has spoiled me with their delightful offerings. The cinnamon scones, in particular, have become a personal addiction. They are not only beautiful to look at but also incredibly delicious. I've sung their praises to friends, family, and even my professors at school. In fact, I think about those scones at least once a day, and on a particularly indulgent day, I'll even go for two.
But the culinary delights at Sweetwaters don't stop at scones. Their sandwiches are amazing, especially the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich. It's a perfect combination of flavors, and it never fails to satisfy my breakfast cravings. Beyond that, there's a wide variety of options to choose from, so you'll undoubtedly find something to suit your taste.
Their prices are more than reasonable, making it easy for me to feed my newfound obsession. And let's not forget about the rewards program. If you're a regular visitor like me, signing up for it is an absolute must. Those free drinks that accumulate in your account have come to my rescue on many a slow day, giving me that extra incentive to treat myself to something special.
To sum it up, Sweetwaters Coffee Shop is not just a coffee shop; it's a community, a place where you can escape the stresses of the day and find yourself in the warm embrace of friendly faces, delicious treats, and an array of satisfying food options. I'm grateful to have stumbled upon this gem and to have been welcomed so wholeheartedly into the Sweetwaters family. If you haven't experienced this haven of hospitality, delectable food, and fantastic drinks, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. You won't be...
Read moreI've been in several times now. I've had the opportunity to try a variety of their coffee and teas and most of their hot foods.
Coffee - I find their coffee good. It's quite sweet, but not as sweet as many Starbucks drinks. I'm not the biggest coffee drinker, but I am fond of their dirty cold brew, very lightly sweet. Keep in mind I tend to drink coffee black so most will find it bitter.
Tea - This is probably where I'm most conflicted. Their selection is great. Their brewing is not. They set it up so that you are in control of your steep time, which is fine, but I think it would show more care if the tea steepings are done by staff unless requested. The tea steeps weak, I can't tell if this is an issue with the portions or temperature. Each bag of tea they use is filled in house with about a heaping tablespoon of loose leaf tea, which is great depending on your drink size. The water however, is 203 degrees... which is wrong for all types of teas. White and green teas will over extract at that temperature and come out bitter. Oolong will over extract as well unless you get a very dark oolong tea, almost a black tea. Black tea will under extract, which translates to a very weak tea, almost watery and flat. If you would like to try tea well done check out 1418 Coffeehouse in Plano, or Shared Table Coffee Shop in Garland.
Food - The food is impressive, it's light, flavorful, and perfect for a coffee shop. There's not much to complain about on food.
I tend to go there in the mornings because I can order and eat immediately, and have a satisfying breakfast & coffee. I am concerned though for the same reason. They never have more that 5 customers when I go in, and I feel like the location may be a poor choice. They are an ideal location for studying, and hanging out. They have board games, small books, and great wifi.
Bottomline: Give it a try, service is fast and the food is great. Bypass the tea if you are as...

Walking into the cafe, I am greeted by the pleasant aroma of freshly brewed bean juice. As I glance over my shoulder to the left, I admire the minimalist art and ponder it for a minute. After a while, I continue on to the front register where I spot enthusiastic, polite employees. I can tell they love their work, and they want to be there. They aren't preoccupied, and the customer is king- as it should be. My order goes smoothly. The lady at the register took her time to understand my order perfectly, but she did NOT take her time making my drink. This starkly contrasts a certain other coffee shop, cough uh, Starbucks cough, in the speed of service and friendliness. You're not just an order number here- you're family. ANYWAYS, after receiving my coffee (with a free smile from a barista with blonde hair) I pressed the lid to my lips. Little did I know that in the next few moments, my life would be changed forever. The coffee hit my taste buds. "Oh. My. God." was the only thought that entered my gray matter. This was the greatest coffee I had tasted in my entire life. I felt unworthy. In my hand I held the chalice from which poured the nectar of the gods. Wow. That was some damn good coffee. I was starstruck. Colors seemed to be brighter, the sun was warmer, and the stress and toils of my life seemed to melt. I was honestly angry because I could never have any other coffee again. It. Was. Too. Good. I would not recommend this coffee shop to anyone who doesn't want to get hooked. Seriously. Once you hop on the merry-go-round, you can...
