This was my first experience at this restaurant. I had read the stellar reviews and decided that it would be a great place to go on Christmas Eve. I am gluten intolerant, so I had planned on what I would be eating before arriving. Once, we arrived, I found out that there was a special Christmas Eve menu prepared for the day. Unfortunately, two of us were not able to get what we had anticipated ordering, since the meals were not listed on the down-sized menu. Definitely, a let-down for us.
I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail from the Appetizer list. It was very good. For the first course, I ordered the West Texas Salad which was excellent, but I couldn't believe that an establishment at this level does not offer a gluten-free roll. There are enough people now identified as gluten intolerant, that the least you could do is take a page from other well-known chef owned restaurants in the Dallas area and offer gluten-free bread to your patrons. I would have gladly paid extra for the rolls to accompany my meal. Such a small addition could make such a big difference in the overall guest experience.
In regards to the Entree Choices, I decided to order the Scottish Salmon which was missing its accent (btw) and a bit overcooked to my liking. The salmon totally missed the mark. I left over half of the filet on my plate with no desire to eat any more of it. The rest of our party ordered Filet Mignon and the Delmonico Steak. They were very pleased with the quality of their meals. The three vegetables offered alongside our entrees were delicious. (Whipped Potatoes, Roasted Vegetables aka Zucchini/Red Bell Pepper, and Burnt Corn).
The only dessert that I could safely eat was the Texas Pecan Praline Ice Cream with Homemade Chocolate Ganache, which was outstanding.
The employees were very engaging and dressed up in festive holiday fashion. Several individuals approached our table to see if we needed anything. Some employees came by to just say Hi! One particular employee stood out, she was at the front check-in and had a bubbly personality that was incredible. She allowed me to take pictures on the upper level and then offered to take our group's photo on the decorated staircase. I wish I had gotten her name, she deserves special recognition for her stellar attitude and can do spirit! She was spreading joy to everyone she interacted with during the time we were there.
On a side note, the restrooms had rolled hand towels instead of paper towels or a hand blower. This was one of those special features that really stood out and was appreciated.
Note to the owner of this fine establishment: If you start offering gluten-free rolls or Brazilian cheese bread, I will gladly return. Please consider this small ask. Your business and servers will benefit from it,...
Read moreI decided to take myself out for steak and ended up at Texas. Liked the cute themed uniform details of the staff. Service was superb. I was greeted by a hansome redhead. I never got his name, but he did let me know he'd fetch my drink, and my waiter would be there shortly. I wanted to give him kudos as he checked on me all through my dining experience, which I appreciated as I was solo, so nice to know they care about a table of one just as much as a large dining party. My waiter was nice, too, but the redhead had that southern hospitality touch. Manager, make sure you give that man a raise. DRINKS: Southern Punch was decent, nothing to write home about, but Sky's Hibiscus Mule is a must drink. I wish I could take one to go! APP/SALAD: The fried quail legs have been the best fried poultry product I've had in my life. They came with a dipping sauce, which was nice to dab in, but the legs did not need it. I'm telling you now get the quail legs! Also had the West Texas Salad, and although it did not look dressed, it was delicious. A nice tough is the waiter added fresh black pepper to the top. DINNER: -2oz Prime Bone-In Ribeye. I'm a bone in steak girl, so I was a little disappointed when the only bone in option was the 23oz Prime Bone in Ribeye. It comes with 4 sides and is designed for a couple. 😞 Alas, I was solo and tempted to offer the waiter a seat and to dine with me as I knew I could not eat it all. It's set at market price and was $99. I got it medium rare & it came cooked right and seasoned correctly. -Sides. I will say the limited variety of vegetables was shocking. Where's the roasted burssels, sautee spinach??? Anyway, I did have roasted vegetables. I DO NOT recommend it. It was composed of undercooked butternut squash chunks, overcooked zucchini squash, and perfectly cooked bell pepper chunks. A melody of veggies that need to be cooked seperate. The second side was the burnt corn, which was good. The third side was the tatertots, which were loaded rectangle cut potato chunks (cheese, bacon, and chives). I wasn't really a fan of them. I should have got mash potato. The last side was the sweet potato fries, which were crispy and the best of the side. DESSERT: I barely had room, but upon the recommendation, I got the slice of apple pie. The scoop of ice cream was really creamy and dusted with cinnamon. The pie was good, but not as good as my grandma's crust. Overall, this is a long one, but I treated myself & it was about $180, so I wanted to give my...
Read moreFirst time there. Last time there. It was not crowded, but we were all packed and crammed next to other parties. Each of us could easily elbow a neighboring party, and waiters would slide between everyone, including the main aisle. The food was not appetizing at all. 0 stars. The Bang Bang Shrimp was okay. The West Texas salad was unappealing and unappetizing. The wedge salad looked amazing. The baby back ribs were dry, unsavory, and had a gross sauce. These were the worst baby back ribs I ever had. I sent them back. The baked beans were okay. The coleslaw was a very dry, unsweet type. I ordered a porkchop as a replacement, and it was a small chop (like half Perry's lunch special). It was grilled fine and tasted okay, but it was on the rare side, which I thought was odd for a restaurant, but I was okay with it. It was also smothered in a sweet sauce, which kind of ruined the whole thing. The roasted vegetables were not appetizing. They didn't have any char or seasoning. The asparagus was just plain asparagus with butter, and it was okay. The strawberry lemon cake was more like strawberry whipped cream icing with a thin layer of lemon icing in the middle with a white cake. It was not tasty and was a small portion. The service was friendly but not on par with a restaurant of their supposed caliber. They were also very grabby and intrusive. The table was small, so we had to constantly manipulate everything. I rate this place well below Texas Roadhouse and slightly above Chili's, but it is overpriced considering the crammed environment and poor...
