Read moreThe pastries here are fun/delicious, the staff are so friendly, and the space is so aesthetically decorated. It's no wonder the place can get so busy -- there were several times we weren't even able to find a table with all the people there
Individual pastry reviews: đ Cakes (10/10): I can never find pretty cakes with whipped frosting so this has become my new spot for my family's birthday cakes (~$40-50, a little high priced). I have bought 3 or 4 cakes at this point since they are beautiful, have fun flavors, and are not too sweet
đ„ Strawberry/Matcha croissant (4/10): look beautiful but are just ok in terms of taste. The matcha whip cream is almost more bitter, than sweet. The whip cream will also melt fast so it's better for these not to sit around for too long
đ Curry croquette (9.5/10): I LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE, deducting a half point bc I have only been able to find them once and since then, they have been out of stock everytime... They even once misplaced the kimchi croquettes under the curry label so I was so crushed when I opened all of the ones I bought to find none were curry đ«
đ Hot Dog Buns (9/10): These are fun, I can only eat one in a sitting though
đ„Ż Cream-Cheese Bun (7/10) - I don't remember the full name of this one, it was good but it was a cream-cheese overload and tasted better after we had taken some of it off
Great place to buy pastries but lacks the space for you to peacefully...
Read moreMy first Tous Les Jour CafĂ© experience was in Seoul, Korea during my first trip back since I left as an infant with my American adoptive parents. The French inspired Asian bakery items sang to my subconscious. This week, my friend invited me to âa Korean bakery in Richfield.â When we arrived today, I was thrilled to learn it was the same food establishment that filled me with joy while in Korea. I had the Almond-Croissant and an iced Americano. I shamelessly devoured the pastry as the flecks landed on my black t-shirt like flaky confetti. The almond flavoring perfectly balanced the sweetness â unlike other establishments with heavy handed almond flavored pastries. When I read the ingredients â I was convinced they left out a secret ingredient borne of magic, but perhaps that merely evidences how I yearn for my Asian roots. Bottom line, the almond pastry is a nostalgic piece of culinary art for me. My friend had the Sweet Potato Mousse Cake and gave me a bite. The intensity of the sweet potato punched and surprised me. I plan to order this this cake for Thanksgiving next year. It reminded me of a lightweight creamy version of southern sweet potato casserole as it melted on my tongue. The service at Tous Le Jour was friendly and efficient. I will be making the drive down to Richfield many times...
