Crafted Cocktail Co. — Restaurant in Richmond Hill

I really want to like this place. Great concept and close to home. We’ve been there 4 or 5 times and each time the service and quality was average at best. Always slow service and understaffed.

Last night we stopped after dinner for a drink. Place was maybe half full. Took a while and a nice gentleman server came by, greeted us and said he would get us menus. He came back and we ordered a round. Two of the folks with us asked for a Nutty Irishman. The server said he was not familiar and we shared it’s simply Frangelico and Bailey’s. Those drinks were delivered by who seemed to be the manager/owner. She said she “didn’t add whipped cream as that would take 15 minutes or more.” We thought that was odd as the drink we described doesn’t call for whipped cream. In the end the drink was coffee, apparently irish whiskey and who knows what else. We asked our original server to take them back as they were not good nor what was ordered and reordered something else. The reorder was delivered by the manager and that’s where things went south. She said she wanted to “understand the mix up as she just wasted top shelf liquor.” We shared what we ordered vs what came back and she said “look, I googled Nutty Irishman and mixed what came up.” I guess that’s the new age bartender, do what google says? Her tone was terrible and not what we were looking for on a nice night out with friends. She even said “you’re not part of our regulars so how would we know your preferences?” We are reasonably regular and made a simple ask. This service experience is not unusual with the restaurant group and the eventual competition in Richmond Hill will catch up with them. We will not be coming back.

I've been to plenty of bars, plenty of bars that serve food, and plenty of "high end" bars that serve food - but this place - takes them all...

Located in the corner of a non-descript strip mall in Richmond Hill, this bar is small, yet beautifully furnished and has a very intimate, romantic, and cozy ambiance about it.

This particular evening we got there early (a good thing, as it got busy, quick) and we enjoyed a lot of what they offered for food and drink. Their crafted cocktails are fabulous - I had one that was rum based and another that was full of bourbon - both were visually appealing and better yet - tasted superb. My dinner cohort enjoyed two of their drinks as well - also nice to look at and even better yet to drink.

The meals were an appetizer of their cheese plate - small, but still delicious, and we enjoyed various items off the menu such as the loaded fries, short-rib melted cheese sandwich and their chicken bites - all of it was spectacular. For dessert we shared the pistachio cheesecake - quite possibly the best cheesecake I've ever had. And we shared a dessert drink that was minty, sweet, and boozy - all blended very well.

Service was the best I have had in quite some time - our server, Sydney, was so personable, so good, and chatty - like I like 'em. Even though it appeared she had the whole floor to take care of, she kept an eye on us and kept our drinks, food, and water all in order - Fantastic job from this gal.

I hope the locals in Richmond Hill show this place some love - it definitely, without any doubt deserves it. I am already looking forward to my trip back to partake from the place, it's ambiance, and all it...
