I'm seeing all the fantastic reviews and wondering if maybe it was a bad day. Pretty hit and miss for me and mostly a miss. Will consider trying again and changing my review to see if maybe it was an off day. Menu on Uber/doordash was a little confusing and considering this is a takeout place it would be nice to see it revised for errors. Would also have loved to see Mac n cheese on the menu and more sides. I will say the value was great for the money for the amount of food you get and amount of meat. I got the lone star deluxe plate, brisket slider, and sides of baked beans and green beans. The baked beans were delicious, though they could have been canned and I wouldn't have noticed lol. The green beans were pretty were good too, could have used a little pork or something extra but they were not mushy which is nice, they also very well could have come from a can as well. The ribs were huge and meaty- I love beef ribs and It's not often you see places that do beef ribs instead of pork. However, they were kind of dry- on the same rib one side was so dry and chewy, one part was decent and the other kinda dry. As for the links- The menu said spicy links but I didn't find it spicy or even flavorful at all. I thought they would be smoked or grilled or something but they taste bland and almost like it was boiled in soapy water. I'm not trying to drag anyone cuz I really wanted to love it but I am telling it like it is. I was very underwhelmed with the rice and elote corn that came with the plate. The rice was dry in some spots but fine in others, the corn was not elote whatsoever. It barely had a sprinkle of salt and pepper and was basically canned or frozen corn. It still tasted good but I was expecting elote or at least a little butter. Definitely the worst for me was the brisket slider. The bun was the only good part. I hate it say it Worst brisket I've ever had. It was so chewy and dry and fatty- which brisket is often fatty but this wasn't tender juicy melt-in-your mouth fat -It was dry chewy gristle. The menu/ picture said it was yellow cheddar cheese on it ,but it looked like it was mozzarella cheese or maybe it was white cheddar IDK there was such a tiny amount on it It would have been better just left off cuz it was just odd like seriously 4 shreds which didn't mix well with whatever the brisket had going on. I want to try again and maybe get some other menu items down the road and see if it was an off day, but I'm not sure if I want to risk it at this point. Was really rooting...
Read moreA Whole Vibe and Late-Night Perfection
My partner and I were on an out-of-town trip and needed something open late. After a quick Google search, we stumbled upon Dress Blue BBQ. From the moment we walked onto the compound, we felt welcome. Walking through the lit open-air seating, with blues music, the inviting aroma of BBQ, and the vibrant art murals, you’re pulled in right away.
The atmosphere, from the big Texas truck to the owner in his apron hat with true southern hospitality, signaled that the food would be outstanding. We placed our order and wandered around admiring the murals. After a wonderful chat with the pitmaster, we learned that we’re supporting a veteran-owned business—that made the experience even better.
When our food arrived, it did not disappoint. I’d never had smoked oxtail before, and it was amazing—the meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone, and the fries were full of flavor. The smoke wings were grilled to perfection. It’s absolutely worth it—a whole vibe. We’ll definitively be returning.
Would recommend to anyone looking for late-night BBQ with great hospitality and a...
Read moreOrdered the brisket and sausage combo plate that came with rice, bread, and corn through Uber Eats. I have had my fair share of BBQ and it sucks to say that I did not enjoy the brisket at all. Fat is not fully trimmed which leaves big strips of chewy, unrendered fat on the outside edges of the brisket which makes the texture really weird and the taste too overwhelmingly beefy and fatty. The meat part of the brisket on the other hand was dry for brisket standards, but edible. Two links of sausages that come with are just okay, a bit too salty for my liking but it was good with the bbq sauce. Side portions were huge which I appreciated and the rice was necessary to soak up all the beef fat from the brisket. Overall, it wasn’t a horrible experience but I would not...
