Everytime i go, i order the same thing. Beef curry ramen (with no bamboo shoots and no mushrooms) ((maybe extra corn if i can afford it)) with 1-2 edemame plates. The dish itself was amazing, it’s the only time ive ever had a dish like this, im usually craving the savory-ness of it since ive never really liked regular curry. it’s not spicy and it tastes really good. The only issue is when it gets to our table, it’s so hot i have to wait to eat it! Makes me drool just sitting there and watching it cool down, luckily i usually have my edemame to hold me over till it’s cooler. The food is a bit pricey, but in all honesty, that’s just richmond. (I come from hampton where i’m not really used to prices like this) This place makes amazing food that feeds me and boyfriend for 40 dollars! (not including tip) my order last time i went was: edemame (1) 5.00 Beef Curry Ramen (1) 13.00 Beef Ramen (1) 13.00 Cha-shu buns (1) 6.00
Next order of business.. the service. The service is.. AMAZING! Me and my boyfriend used to go all the time (hence why so many pictures) and we actually got to know and become acquaintances with one of the waiting staff there. Her name is Katie.
Katie works a lot, whenever we come in, she’s usually there. It’s her and her supervisor(?) that are usually working. we actually talked a lot to the manager(?) and learned her name but in our absence it was lost in my brain. (i feel so bad they’re so nice) (i think it starts with a S, something like Sunny or Song?)
Anyways, back to katie. shes perfect, so nice, she gives great big smiles and gets our order down quickly, but because we’ve been there so many times, she quite literally remembers our orders to the T, as she also knows our names! (and our cat since we’ve brought him a couple times in his bubble backpack)
we haven’t gone in a while, (i’ll be honest, we couldn’t afford it 😭) but last night, we were craving some good-ol ramen spot. When we opened the door, it was busy but yet,
“Hi! Shea and Topher, You guys! Long time no see!”
it was katie! and she still remembered us! We had to wait about 10 minutes for an open table, luckily they have a small seating area where we can still look at the menu (as if we’ll need it)
katie called us over to our table and was smiling ear to ear, i can’t even lie, i got a little emotional. She asked, “1 or 2 edemame today?” and i decided i MUST leave a review so everyone can know how amazing this shop is. It’s great. Please come and support them!
I just also want to say: katie automatically brought us forks (we don’t use the chopsticks😅) and the salt because she knows I like to put hella salt on my edemame. she learned us so well and it feels good to be known so well. Love this place, i hope it stays for a long time so i can revisit. ps. i took a picture...
Read moreI’m really sad because I recommended this spot to so many people because of a previous wonderful experience. If you are going to eat here, DO NOT GET TAKE OUT. I ordered a meal on Uber eats for pick up consisting of two ramens, miso soup, takoyaki, and cha shu buns (which was the thing I was looking forward to the most). The cha shu buns were missing! Which is ok! Mistakes happen, I had a relatively big order and me working in food service I can understand. We called them and told them that our buns were missing. I was hoping they would possibly make some and then I could walk over and grab them. If they had said “I’m sorry about that, you’ll have to go through Uber for a refund because there’s not much we can do”, it would have been better than the response I got. The person on the phone says “she says she packed it in there, there were two bags that came with it”. Which was correct, we did in fact have two bags, but there were still no buns. My partner says “I’m sorry, it wasn’t in there ma’am, there was only soup and noodles in the other bag”. And the person says “no, she says she put it in. Can’t you just, like, go through Uber and get a refund? The chef says she put it in there and there’s nothing we can do after that.” So rude. Not only was the service rude but the cha shu ramen we got only had two pieces of pork. I feel like if we had dined inside they would have brought everything out with some more meat, but I’m actually so angry that they weren’t even nice! I have better things to do than to lie about not receiving food. I will no longer be recommending this place to people. Rude service ruins a place no matter how good...
Read moreI was craving ramen and wanted to try this place out given the reviews via Google. Wait staff was attentive and polite. I liked the decor but seating is a bit of an issue due to the size they have to work with.
I decided to order the Nagasaki Champion Ramen and a sweet tea. Surprised the tea was canned and no refills.
But what really struck a cord with me was my meal. The broth was savory, veggies were delicious, noodles prepared perfectly, and probably the best soft boiled egg I’ve ever had…..HOWEVER….I’m noticing that with each bite and stir to blend all the flavors together, I haven’t come across ANY PORK!
So I start to investigate my bowl thoroughly, combing through all the broth, veggies, and noodles…and finally found a little sliver of pork. I continue my “needle in a haystack” search, placing bit by bit in the ladle they provided.
There was about a table spoon of pork.
Shocked at how little protein I’ve collected, I asked one of the servers if this is the “normal” portion size for this meal, to which he stated, sorry, but yes.
BUMMER!
Needless to say, after spending $17 on a can of tea and not nearly enough protein to feed my 3yr old, I had to succumb to a biggie bag from Wendy’s to...
