Came in for boba around 8:45pm one day. Online it says they close at 10pm so we think it’s fine. We get there and after waiting about five minutes they say they will stop accepting orders at 9:00pm on the dot and there is about five people in front of me and my boyfriend. Soon after they say their label maker is not working so they stop taking orders for a few minutes. Soon after, it’s already 9:00pm and two peoples orders are taken, and no one else entered after we did. We are next and the cashier looks just at us two and announces to everyone that now it is 9:00pm and they will not accept any more orders. I looked at the time and it was 9:03pm. It felt very unfair as they actually did keep taking orders after 9:00pm and we had just waited about 20 minutes for nothing. The fact my boyfriend and I were just only the last group in the whole store and they took other people’s orders past nine felt very unfair. It wasn’t like there was a huge line of people they turned away, just us. If they are concerned about these things they should simply lock the door past a certain point.
So instead of then taking the last customers order who had been patiently waiting, we had to drive 30 mins to brecotea in short pump. Naturally we still wanted boba. At this point, most of the boba places in Richmond were closed but that one closes at 9:30 and actually did.
This store is clearly poorly run and seems as if the employees are paid minimum wage/ simply don’t care about customers
I recommend going to snow house boba instead - it is much better and seems to be locally run.
On another note, when I have gone here a few years ago (don’t typically go considering it’s not that good) the boba is always incredibly hard and all clumped together. Doesn’t taste that good. I didn’t realize how good boba can be until branching out into the other boba stores around which are much much better. Also as a local, be weary it’s right next to vcu. Just like the chipotle on grace st, these chains are run by college kids who serve college kids with corporate oversight. Bound to be bad quality. Too sweet, bad boba, not to mention they run...
Read moreGot a call after placing an order letting me know the drink I chose was seasonal and not available. 2 out of the 4 drink ingredients were not in stock, so i requested the drink just be made without them. Got another call right after saying the same thing, and not acknowledging I just spoke to them. I again made the request to just make the drink with whatever they could ( literally no request except to produce a drink), trying to make it as simple as possible. I was informed that per corporate policy, they don't make custom drinks. Is it really a custom drink to leave out the options you don't have available? Insult to injury, the people they employee are some pretty dense knuckle dragging apes. It was cringe worthy to talk to them on the phone. There is 0 chance this generation is going to mars lol.
Update: Turns out they didn't even cancel this order. They charged me and never brought the drinks or refunded. After waiting over a week I had to claim the transaction as fraud...
Read moreReally awesome spin on Asian fusion tea. They have every tea you could think of. My girlfriend usually drags me here to get her "tapioca balls" I have no idea what these things are but apparently they're good for you and it's semi interesting sucking these little guys up in an oversized straw and chewing on them while you eat/drink tea. Keep in mind you aren't required to get them in your tea and they have a great selection of other fruit teas and frozen slushies. I personally like the ginger milk (don't judge me) which is a delicious blend of milk and an exorbitant amount of ginger so if you have a stomach ache or are hungover this imo is one of the best solutions for that because the milk will provide a coating in your stomach while the ginger really drives the soothing feeling home. I personally don't drink (again don't judge) but I highly advise all you VCU people's to hit this place up if you're struggling...
