I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jai Pore Xpress, which is, undoubtedly, the best Indian food restaurant in town, and I must say it was an extraordinary culinary experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere that set the stage for a memorable meal.
To start off, I ordered the Vegetable Samosa and Onion Pakora as appetizers. The samosas were perfectly crispy on the outside, while the filling of spiced vegetables was flavorful and aromatic. The onion pakoras were delightfully crispy and served with two tangy chutneys that complemented their savory taste. It was a great way to kickstart the meal.
Moving on to the main course, I couldn't resist trying both the Butter Chicken and Butter Paneer. The Butter Chicken was a masterpiece. Tender pieces of succulent chicken were immersed in a rich, creamy, tomato-based gravy that had just the right balance of spices. The flavors were heavenly, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The Butter Paneer was equally impressive. The cubes of paneer were soft and creamy, bathing in a velvety sauce that delighted my taste buds.
To accompany the main course, I ordered the Garlic Naan, and it was absolutely divine. The naan bread was pillowy soft, with a roasted garlic flavor that added a delightful twist. Each bite was a wonderful marriage of textures and flavors, making it the ideal accompaniment to the rich gravies.
No Indian meal is complete without a refreshing beverage, and the Mango Lassi at Jai Pore was the perfect choice. Creamy, smooth, and bursting with the natural sweetness of ripe mangoes, it provided a cooling respite from the spices while perfectly complementing the flavors of the meal.
I'd also like to add that the service at Jai Pore was exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about their cuisine. They also couldn't be nicer! They were more than willing to provide recommendations and ensure that every customer's needs were met. The restaurant had a cozy and welcoming ambiance, with tasteful decor that added to the overall dining experience.
In terms of value for money, Jai Pore Xpress exceeded all expectations. The portion sizes were generous, and the quality of ingredients used was evident in every dish. The prices were reasonable, considering the impeccable taste and the overall dining experience provided.
In conclusion, Jai Pore Xpress stands out as the epitome of Indian cuisine in town. It offers a gastronomic journey that will leave you craving for more. The restaurant's warm hospitality, attention to detail, and exceptional flavors make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Indian dining experience in and...
Read moreHaving eaten another takeout lunch from Jaipore Xpress over the Thanksgiving weekend with my family (a welcome respite from the remnants of the turkey and accompaniments consumed at the event itself) I feel I must draw management's attention to a persistent problem. Whilst the food was generally very good, as usual, there is a problem with the restaurant's naan breads. This is not the first time we have experienced this problem; the quality of the naans served has been very much hit-and-miss over the last couple of years. I don't know whether the variability is due to which chef is on duty on any particular day, or whether there is only one naan chef but the quality of his output depends upon how much he has been drinking the night before (or on the morning of?) but this is has been a persistent problem which needs to be addressed. We took six naans for our party (three plain at $6 each and three garlic at $7 each), but instead of being soft on the inside with crisp browned patches on the outside, these were all uniformly hard and leathery; they might have come from an old saddle at a nearby stable. Management must get a grip and address this problem as a matter of urgency. For my family, naan breads are an important component of any Indian meal, and those currently offered are really letting down what would otherwise be an excellent meal. UPDATED COMMENT 12/03/2024 re: MEAL TAKEN AT LUNCHTIME ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 30th.
The food at Jaipore Xpress in Ridgefield is excellent and absolutely recommended for a takeaway or home delivery. I would strongly encourage the owners to look for larger premises in town from which they could operate a dine-in restaurant. At the current location on Bailey Avenue there are a few tables in front of the serving counter, but this would be an insalubrious place to dine. Essentially the establishment is take out or delivery only, but well worth the...
Read moreThere isn't an Indian restaurant anywhere in NYC or the vicinity that has anything over this terrific establishment. You simply must try it for yourself. The south Indian owners and staff know Indian cuisine. The recipes are all outstanding. Some quite unique. For example the ever popular channa masala is made with very little oil, and they add a delightful mango sauce which gives the spicy flavor even more variety and originality. You will never have this dish quite this way anywhere else. I've not seen it. THE PHOTO attached is of a modest takeout snack I ordered: Amazing vegetable samosas and channa masala.
I've been to many Indian restaurants in major US cities and more. I've dined at numerous ones in London, and Jaipore Xpress is better food overall. There are no weak spots in their menu, service or atmosphere. The bread is always light, fluffy and delicious, all made fresh on the premises. The food is always served hot and ON HEATED PLATES. (Just try finding that anywhere else.) The rice is often the fluffy kind, similar to that used in India, where I have visited twice. Outside of India, Jaipore Xpress is the most delicious and freshest Indian cuisine I've ever had. What a joy and privilege to have such a place in Ridgefield, CT.
They also have a generous yet simple LUNCH SPECIAL, for a very reasonable price. You'll get at least 4 items with it, including a deliciously fresh yellow dahl and a lovely portion of naan. And they come around and offer a complimentary refill of the dahl. And rice. They do this at dinner too.
Set aside a time to try this superb place. There are plenty of tables in their quaint, casual, beautifully designed, CLEAN restaurant. You won't be sorry. All of the unanimous great reviews...
