I asked where to get a good steak on a Sunday evening, and a lot of folks pointed me in the direction of Kathryn's. We haven't been here since celebrating New Year 2020, not that it wasn't good, but my cravings always landed on their peak dinner hours. If you know Kathryn's this place is always hopping and lively, it's best to make reservations as they have limited seatings.
We LOVE their seared tuna steak app, but I'm trying to stay away from raw fish for obvious reasons (I'm đ€°đ»), so we started with the mushroom stuffed with crab dressing instead. As our entrĂ©e, we ordered the 16oz ribeye, had it topped with feta. I got the Redfish George, which is topped with succulent jumbo shrimp, crab meat, and sautĂ©ed mushrooms. Each entrĂ©e includes a side, we opted for the loaded mash potatoes, and I got the boiled tomato too-doo, we traded out our house salad for their soup of the day which was beef and vegetable. Everything included complimentary fried bread and butter.
This steak is just as amazing as we remembered it! Perfectly cooked medium rare, nicely seasoned (no kind of sauce or au jus needed) the tan line (sear) on it was so mouthwatering sexy đ We've never had one bad steak here, and whoever they have on that grill, they need to give them a grill master apron. I enjoyed my redfish, but yall, that tomato and deep fried bread is so good, I couldn't stop eating it. Our sweet server Angie even asked if my fish was cooked right because I barely touched it, it was, but man... that tomato was love at first bite all over again for me. My husband isn't a salad guy, or a soup guy, but he'd take soup over salad any day. He finished his soup and even said it was really good and hearty.
Our service was MORE than amazing. Angie was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and came by to check on us often. Fyi, check out their daily dinner specials, it's an awesome deal especially for their...
Read moreOn New Yearâs Eve, we visited Kathrynâs for the first time, eager to finally try this long-standing local steakhouse. Unfortunately, the experience didnât live up to our expectations.
While I understand New Yearâs Eve is a busy night, we encountered issues that seemed to reflect poor preparation and service rather than just the holiday rush. After being seated, we were told there were no menus, water glasses, or silverware availableâa puzzling situation given that only half the dining room was presently eating.
Our server was inattentive and frequently unavailable. She forgot our appetizer, which didnât arrive until our entrĂ©es were served (nearly an hour after we sat) and never checked on us or apologized for the delays. On the other hand, Austin and Willy, who werenât even assigned to our table, went out of their way to assist us and deserve recognition for their efforts.
As for the food, my filet was cooked perfectly but lacked flavor. Combined with the poor service, the meal didnât justify the reputation.
Disappointingly, I didnât see any management present to oversee the dining experience or address concerns. This left us feeling that our business was not valued.
While we had high hopes for Kathrynâs, this experience has unfortunately ensured we wonât return.
I did send an email to the owner and to the restaurant after getting home that evening. A week later no response. That speaks volume there to me.
Update 1/9/25: In response to the restaurant's reply, I did email Mr. Cliff and the restaurant's info@ email address the evening of the issue. While I didn't expect an immediate response, here we are over 7 business days later and no response. No, I did not ask to speak to a manager, but I would have expected management to be making their present known checking on diners like many...
Read moreOk so normally I am not the type of person to complain about a restaurant. Especially one that was highly recommended by a friend whose family loves Kathryn's. The ambiance was nice except we had to sit in a corner booth in the back. The server was very sweet but seemed a bit overwhelmed due to two groups she was assigned to handle. I am in no way saying anything negative about the server she was doing her job as fast as she could. We were celebrating our housemates 56th birthday and were excited to sit down and have a fantastic meal. That didn't happen. We all chose different types of fish. I had the stuffed redfish with extra crab salad and green beans ,One of my house mates had baked redfish with salad and baked potato. And finally my other had redfish George with salad and to-do.. For an appetizer we all shared the queso dip. After receiving our beverages it took quite awhile for us to be able to place our order. After that we also wait a fair good amount of time waiting for our entrees. When our food finally arrived I wa watching everyones plate and sure enough our fish was extremely dry as itay have sit in the pass for too long. We all attempted to eat our meals, had to ask the server for more butter sauce which unfortunately did not help. One of my house mates in most every case will eat all of his food. He ate maybe half and then pushed it away. The salad was nice and fresh. Also I understand that you have not upgraded your menu for a couple of years so there were items on their that you no longer serve. I'm seriously hoping this was a fluke and that the chef was having a bad day. Very hesitant to ever walk through the doors of your...
