This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant! We had reservations for my friends birthday on Saturday July 9, 2022. Our waiter Rashied was the WORST!!! We placed our drink and appetizer order. One of the drinks where made wrong and he tried to make it seem as though we didn't know that it was made wrong. We placed an order for crab claws but ordered the wrong ones. We asked could we change them as soon as we realized that what we ordered was wrong. He said he would talk to his manager. He came back with the crab claws packed up in a togo box and said that the manager said we would have to pay for them but if we wanted to order the correct ones we could. We asked could we have some bread, he stated he doesn't bring the bread out until he brings out the salads. For a table of 10 people he brought out 8 rolls. It took a very long time for us to get out food and when it came out it was cold. One of the people in our party asked for their steak to be cut in half. Everyone who ordered a steak, their steak was cut in half. As he was passing out the food he spilled steak juice in her hair, and all over her clothes. He was nonchalant and unapologetic about what he did. We asked for a manager and Jeffery came and had the same attitude. He offered her some soda water to try to get oil out of her linen dress. We addressed our concerns about the food, the drinks and the service and he basically said nothing but he was sorry. He asked who had a problem with their food. He would take the food off but the drinks we still had to pay for. The waiter Rashein attempted to give the lady in out party a check. She told him to give it to Jeffery Shapley (the manager) who gave her the soda water for her ruined lien dress. To make matters worse he lost one of our party's credit card. He told her she was irresponsible and that she was being childish. He then proceeded to say that he had been sick of us (the patrons) and he told her F her! The manager never came back and said anything! He stood at the hostess station the entire time. This was the most racist establishment that I have ever been to! To be treated this way is ridiculous and unacceptable. So needless to say the food was horrible, service was horrible and the experience was horrible!!!! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant period!!!! My friend has a ruined linen dress, oil in her freshly done hair, and oil in her Louis Vuitton purse. Read moreIt was a day that I really needed a lift in mood and that mood I needed could only be helped with a good steak. Strangely, I thought Shapley's would have had what I needed! They certainly did have a decent steak, but the service just made my mood worse.
I was alone on food today so I thought I would just get some take-out and at least check out the scene there. I had ate there with my girlfriend not but a year ago and the service was, only OK. It wasn't bad, but not impressive. What was it? Did I need a tie? I was in casual business style and even drove up in a BMW - maybe I look too young to require good service? I felt as though I was in a place where I was a little less welcome than I feel in other nice restaurants I regularly visit.
When I walked in the door I wasn't enthusiastically welcomed, there was not a smile on the hostess' face. I informed her that I was here for take out (with a smile on my face, I was ready for steak!). She pointed me to the bar.
When I arrived to the bar and sat down (to wait for my take-out) the Bartender came over and prepared to set a drink napkin in front of me (no smile on his face). As soon as I mentioned I was here for take-out and waiting, he quickly (almost rudely) removed / swiped my drink napkin away and said they'll let me know when it would be ready. From that point on the Bartender offered me absolutely nothing, practically ignored me and socialized with the other bar patrons.
Eventually my check was brought and I paid it out, that was the last and almost only communication I had with the bartender.
After a long wait m take-out finally arrived via assistant, busser, I am not sure. I left the restaurant with a good bye on par with the same kind of greeting I came in with.
I was missing a couple of things on my order as well, but I was just too eager to leave at that point.
When I get take-out at Biaggi's in Ridgeland I get great service. I get offered a drink. I have a bartender thats super friendly and smiling. I will not likely visit Shapley's again, because Biaggi's has four times the service and welcome atmosphere even for take-out customers and at half the price.
I worked at Shapley's back in 2001 when I was in college. Have the owner's taken a back seat? I wondered if that was why. I did not see them there that day and when I worked there almost 14 years ago they were greatly involved with operations.
Do yourself a favor and go to a better place. Biaggi's may not have a Shapley's steak, but they most certainly have a better atmosphere and service at...

We had both ordered filet mignon at different temperatures which they cooked perfectly. For me, I like a medium filet and I a hard time finding anyone who can get it "just right". We also order the asparagus, potatoes au gratin, and had some fries which seemed like they were homemade. We did order dessert, champagne, and coffee, all which were up to par. We wished they would have had a little selection of coffees or espresso, nonetheless, it did not make the meal any less enjoyable. The staff was attentive, courteous, and friendly ensuring at all times ensuring we had everything needed for our great dining experience. Wil(our server) did an excellent job taking care of us. The additional staff that brought us replacement silverware and refilled our glasses were also great. Our table was divided by "mini walls" as it seemed like many were, that we enjoyed because it gave is a sense of privacy and intimacy. It allowed us to enjoy our meal without the interruption of the "busy traffic" of restaurant. The ambience was nicely done. The restrooms were clean and above expectations with a nice modern theme to match the business. We did not feel rushed through our meal which is a large factor in enjoying the meal, I believe.
