Despite living in this area for 15 years, I had no clue a club like Feathers was so nearby. Thanks to my good friend Eloy, a superstar Yelp Elite, who organized a meetup with few other Elites at Feathers. He also told us about the parking lot across the club where everyone parks conveniently to visit the club.
We went to the club around 11pm, cover was $10 per person. The security at the door was impressive as the security personnel checked our IDs and had metal detector. Upon entering, we saw the club had free for guests to celebrate their 47th anniversary. The club had two floors. Both floor had bars and separate DJs jamming. First floor was more for hangout and gossip. Second floor had the larger dance floor where most people were partying. The DJ on second floor had some really good bits, but at times some dull ones too. There was also security personnel on second floor as well.
They also got an outdoor backyard like place with benches and shacks for guests to hangout. Here they also placed a bar for guests to hangout and have drinks.
Overall we had a wonderful hour and a half here. We had drinks, lots of dance groves and finally some nice chit chat in the outdoor space. Now that we had the experience, we will come to Feathers more often than going all the way to the city...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAn update: I received a responce from the ownership about women centered events.
They said that working with qomen was not successfull for their business but is open to all. A rather disappointing responce that proves my point:
This place has so much potential but it's dropped in specialties. I emailed the owner about ideas to bring a newer, younger crowd so that they don't need gofundmes for the bills. I have yet to hear back. What is very disappointing is the severe lack of catering to lesbian and queer WOMEN.
There are NO, 0 none, Not a singular event catered for women which is disappointing as their manager staff is all men.
I truly believe if club feathers doesn't drop their karaoke, drag/gogo boy routine they will close for good. The music is old, the gogo boys hardly do any routines. Just stand on a platform and dance, and the drag queens hardly make anything in tips since there's hardly a crowd.
Please please please reach out to me about my event ideas to keep feathers afloat. You guys need a rebrand and a rejuvenation.
You guys need newer music, a cocktail menu, and weekend events for women. I have already emailed you, but I plan on coming in to find any owner who...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUsed to be a fun place for all people. However, the staff is rude and drinks are extremely overpriced. The bar tender was obnoxious and expected a big tip while acting like he was king and the drinks were not that good. I will stick to nyc, and this place is a let down to the LGBTQ Community. As a straight gal, gay clubs are usually so much fun, but this staff does not know real fun and hospitality and acted like they were on a power trip. I will not return! Responding to the owner....I love the LGBTQ Community so why would I look to repress any LGBTQ establishment. What a poor, ignorant and convenient rebuttal Open your eyes and listen to people about some drastic changes. The crowd was nice. However, your place used to be great and packed. Drinks were NOT $3. Actually, a gentleman was telling me he orders soda for around $3, because the alcoholic beverages are too expensive. My two drinks were over $20. So are you admitting on social media that I was overcharged? Seems like the owner's ego is too big to listen to...
