This shop opened about a month ago. Everything I've tried so far has been delicious. The owner, April, is very friendly and knowledgeable. Today, I tried the seasonal pumpkin caramel cheesecake shake and it was so flavorful!
They have a family room in the back with toys for kids to play and a welcoming lobby in which to sit and relax. She said they host a community workout every Saturday at 9am (free with purchase of a $15 tea & shake combo - energizing tea before the workout & the protein shake afterwards), so I'm really looking forward to checking that out!
REVIEW UPDATE: Almost 9 months after my original review, shortly after they opened, I thought I’d update my review based on my long-term experience. This place still rocks! April and her son Joey are always so friendly and welcoming and do a great job of recommending flavors if you’re undecided. They give military discounts and support other local small businesses.
Their menu is made with Herbalife products (as clearly displayed on signage in the store) but they in no way give a “sales pitch” other than occasionally mentioning to let them know if you’re interested in making the shakes and teas at home. Definitely no “hard sell” or “hiding their affiliation.”
The teas give me lasting energy without the jitters and their shakes are perfect for me post-workout before running errands when I know I won’t be home for a while to eat. Lots of protein and fiber and they keep me full!
A friend and I have made Cowtown our once a week “catch up time” after the gym without the kids. Plenty of comfy seating to sit and chat.
Finally, their Saturday morning community workouts are AWESOME! I attend just about every week (FYI, they do not host it one Saturday a month due to business training). The energy and camaraderie at the workouts are amazing. All different types of people/fitness levels having fun and supporting each other. And Leilani (April’s daughter-in-law and personal trainer) does a fantastic job of challenging us while keeping it fun and varied.
At the Saturday workouts, for $15 you get an energizing tea before the workout, the workout, and the shake afterwards. For the workouts, they offer a choice of 2 tea flavors and 2 shake flavors to make it easier to make so many at once, but the options change weekly. Afterwards, there’s an opportunity for anyone to share a “win” re: health & fitness and there is a quick offer to stay after the workout if you’d like to learn more about Herbalife but there’s no hard sell and they repeatedly say all are welcome and you do NOT have to use Herbalife products to attend. I, myself, am only an occasional customer (when I visit the shop and buy a shake or tea; I do not purchase products for home use) and have never felt like I wasn’t welcome because I don’t purchase the products.
Cowtown is truly a small family business and they have worked hard to create a welcoming and fun atmosphere....
Read moreIf I would have to use one word to describe this incredible place it would be devoted. Not only are they devoted to making sure their costumers are happy, but they are also devoted to making a bond and friendship with every person they meet. Cowtown Nutrition was one of the first places I tried when I first moved to Texas, and I’m stoked to say that after a few months, this place has become not only one of my favorite places in FW, but also has become a safe space and close-knit community to me. Shakes are incredible. Teas are energizing. Saturday workouts are motivating. If you have the chance, I 100% recommend stopping by for a nutritious option and outstanding company. Special thank you to April,...
Read moreSays nowhere on any online menu or sign that they sell Herbalife. You get the sales pitch when you get inside. We were excited to try them based on other reviews, but once we heard the lady say Herbalife we had to go.
Herbalife has been proven to be awful for you with some side effects even resulting in organ failure. There's not ONE natural thing in that entire store and the dishonesty of the ownership is pretty on par for anyone associated with that pyramid scam.
I'm not bashing a small business because they're a small business, I'm asking them to hold themselves accountable an not lie to their customers.
Definitely avoid. Just eat...
