Conch Heaven in Riverdale. I'm a regular customer that enjoys your Cracked Conch. Your restaurant is very clean and well presented. But one thing is OFF. The bearded guy working the register needs some customer service training immediately. Every time I encounter him he seems disinterested in serving me. I was wondering what did I do to this guy because his demeanor is pretty consistent each time I encounter him. He is very unwelcoming and comes across as if he doesn't want to be there. He should realize that his role as a cashier is to do more than just take orders and process transactions. Sometimes customers may have questions about the menu items, and he should be happy to explain and describe them.
The menu lists Chicken Souse under the selection of Soups. So if I asked him how is Chicken Souse prepared...Is it really like a chicken soup?" Why did he stare at me like I'm crazy and respond in a dry manner, "No, it's a souse." Clearly I'm not familiar with what Bahamians call souse...That's why asked the question. Plus I felt like it was a struggle for him to provide a detailed description. He even said that he didn't know why they put it under Soup... "Duhhh!" I had to keep asking him questions because what he was saying sounded like it was very "soupy" to me. All I could say is, "You are confusing me." In a matter-of-fact tone he then tells me he told me everything that is included in Chicken Souse, and reminded me that it is not a soup so he doesn't know why I'm confused. As a result, I decided to get my usual which was the Cracked Conch and Peas & Rice.
I decided to stay there and eat, because I was the only person dining there. Do you know that for the 45 minutes I was there, he never once came over to find out if I was enjoying my food, nor did he even offer me a sample of the Chicken Souse? He was not busy and definitely was utilizing his cell phone.
I just feel that this was weird energy and a missed opportunity for him to provide excellent customer service. I shared my experience on Facebook and other people said they knew exactly who I was talking about because they received similar treatment from him. So this is why I am here writing this unfavorable review with hopes that an owner/manager/the cashier will see it and it motivates you all to improve. Honestly, I want to continue to patronize your restaurant, but when I think about his unwelcoming reception coupled by our uncomfortable and confusing conversation it makes me want to stop giving you my money. And to think...I actually tipped...
Read moreAbsolutely no customer service. If you are familiar with the terse and dismissive disposition of island people then welcome to conch heaven. I bought this overpriced food so I can support small business. I had a problem with my food the past three times and I decided to say something.(maybe they we having a maintenance issue they were unaware of) when I called to explain the issue the resolution was: Tell him don’t come back.
I managed at a quick service restaurant for 12 years. Problem: French Fries Temperature: Hot Taste: Stale Texture: crispy and greasy
Cause: Procedural or mechanical Procedural: the kitchen staff could be refrying already cooked fries Procedural: Grease not allowed to heat to appropriate temperature before frying. Staff too busy Mechanical: the heating coils on the fry cooker need to be serviced. The grease is not heated to appropriate temperature before cooking.
The good: They work hard. (Food service is hard and frustrating.) 1 Start for being in the business Best shrimp I have ever had. 1 star for good shrimp.
The bad: It is generally frowned on to be dismissive of loyal customers that notify you of an issue with food quality that could be hurting your business.
I would have given more stars if they did anything to resolve the issue. I heard the entire phone conversation. The cook did care. When he was informed of the food quality he said ‘OK’ and the manager said tell him don’t come back.
In response to the owner: I said that I cannot come to the restaurant and pay $14 for just shrimp. (I always leave a 15% Tip) I always wait the same amount of time for my food. Hold time does decrease the quality of food. However, my wait time was 00:11:32. I set a timer to come get the food at 15 minutes as instructed. If the hold time so greatly affected my fries it would have also affected the shrimp. The food would have been cold. Yet, the fries were piping hot but stale and greasy. The shrimp was fine.
Sir or Ma’am you are wrong. No excuse. You have great food but you can never tell a loyal customer ‘don’t come back’ when you have messed up. You should do your best to resolve the issue. Granted you were busy. You need to have a better procedure for cooking fresh food, controlling wastes, speed of service and resolving customer complaints when you are busy. It’s...
Read moreToday we took the drive to Riverdale, Ga for authentic Bahamian food. Upon arrival I noticed the difference in pricing from the google page and the board posting. We decided on crack conch with rice macaroni and coleslaw and steam conch with coleslaw and potatoe salad as well as the conch fritters. We were able to bask in the cool goombay punch soda (which was a whopping $4 per can 😳🤯)
I took delivery to attach the most recent menu and updated pricing which I can understand based on the market and the location for Bahamian food. (In my Bahamian dialect My Gawd they expensive) The food was not as good as the other location in Atlanta. The fritters were ok, two large pieces of conch per fritter. It was an after taste either between the steamed conch or the rice not sure 🤷🏽♀️ maybe the tomato paste I’m assuming.
I’m not disappointed but, I’m not impressed. I think there is a different chef from the last time I was there the food is just OK!
Please find the latest menu with the new updated pricing don’t be like me(shocked at 2 dinners 1 entere and 4 drinks...
