This is by far THE WORST restaurant experience I have ever encountered in my life! I'd rate it ZERO STARS if it were an option!
To summarize: Mediocre food that was not even HOT at that, lukewarm coffee, and a very RUDE “waitress” to boot. In other words, a HUGE disappointment!
Now for the specifics: My boyfriend and I recently decided to visit this establishment (as we had done so for several years without incident). This time we ordered omelettes that included hash browns. We requested the hash browns to be cooked lightly. What we got instead was hash browns that were overcooked/burned and hardly edible. “Waitress” said she told them to cook them lightly but yet didn’t offer to replace them. We therefore requested french fries as a replacement. My boyfriend's omelette was not hot and when he told “waitress” about this she asked shortly what was wrong with it but replaced it. She also took her time bringing his toast and only after he asked her about it. Syrup for my pancakes was not warm either. “Waitress” stopped by to “check” on us and I requested more decaffeinated coffee. Coffee was LUKEWARM to begin with so my boyfriend asked if she could make another pot. “Waitress” refused stating that it wouldn't make sense to make another pot as we were her last customers. She offered me REGULAR coffee instead but I had to decline as I can't have caffeine.
At this point, I asked for a manager and reported the waitress/service. Manager was rather nonchalant but said he would discipline her.
When we received the bill, they had NERVE enough to charge $2 for the french fries replacement that we weren't even informed about. Had manager remove that charge, too.
WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY APOLOGY FROM THEM OR HOW THEY COULD MAKE IT RIGHT EITHER! DEPLORABLE!
THIS. “ESTABLISHMENT”. IS. A. COMPLETE. OUTRAGE!
I recommend you patronize this establishment ONLY if you enjoy being overcharged for underwhelming food and MISTREATED FOR NO REASON BY A RUDE AND EXTREMELY...
Read moreDuring my recent trip to Chicago, I had the pleasure of dining at Yia Yia Pancake House with my family. Our group consisted of one child and three adults, and we visited at the peak of breakfast time on a Sunday. Despite the bustling atmosphere, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated within just 10 minutes.
Our meal was a delightful experience from start to finish. For the child in our group, we ordered the kids' dollar cakes, which were perfectly fluffy and just the right size for little hands. The sugar cookie milkshake was a hit as well, offering a sweet and indulgent treat that both kids and adults can appreciate.
The adults' choices were equally satisfying. I had the smoked salmon eggs benedict, which was a delightful combination of savory and creamy flavors, with the perfectly poached eggs and rich hollandaise sauce complementing the smoky salmon beautifully. Another standout dish was the stack of pancakes, which were light, airy, and cooked to golden perfection. The pancakes were served with generous portions of butter and syrup, making each bite a melt-in-your-mouth experience.
One minor disappointment was the absence of alcohol, as I had hoped to enjoy a mimosa with my breakfast. However, this was a small hiccup in an otherwise fantastic meal, and the quality of the food more than made up for it.
The service at Yia Yia Pancake House was efficient and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. The staff managed the busy crowd with ease, ensuring that we felt welcome and well-attended to throughout our visit.
In summary, Yia Yia Pancake House is a gem in Chicago's breakfast scene. With its delicious offerings, prompt service, and family-friendly atmosphere, it's a place I plan to visit every chance I get. Whether you're in the mood for classic breakfast favorites or something a bit more unique, Yia Yia Pancake House delivers on all fronts. Highly...
Read moreYia Yia's Pancake House is an absolute gem! I had the pleasure of dining multiple times here for breakfast, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was in for a treat. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing morning meal. The service was prompt and friendly, making me feel right at home. I Ordered Tina's Combo at Yia Yia's Pancake House. It is a delightful breakfast choice that combines the best of both worlds. When the plate arrived, it was a feast for the eyes. Two perfectly golden pancakes, each the size of a dinner plate, formed a base for this scrumptious creation. They were flawlessly cooked, with a slight crispness around the edges that gave way to a tender, fluffy interior. right in between these pancakes was a generous portion of succulent ham. The ham was savory and had a slight smoky flavor that added depth to the dish. It was thick enough to satisfy but not overwhelming, allowing the other components to shine. The highlight of the dish, without a doubt, was the two sunny-side-up eggs perched on top of the pancakes. The eggs were cooked to perfection, with whites that were just set and yolks that were gloriously runny. When I cut into them, the yolks oozed out and mingled with the ham and pancake, creating a mouthwatering symphony of flavors. Each bite was a harmonious blend of sweet and savory, with the pancakes providing a subtle sweetness that balanced the richness of the ham and eggs. The combination of textures and flavors was a true delight for the taste buds. I left Yia Yia's Pancake House with a full and happy belly, already looking forward to my next visit. If you're in search of a breakfast that's both comforting and delicious,...
