So yesterday (3-20) I was looking forward to dinning here again. We were excited that you were doing dine in again. So I took my wife there for her birthday dinner, we got there at about 5:30pm. Let me run it down:
So we were seated quickly and the busboy brought our drinks pretty quick. There were 3 tables with a party of 5, 3 tables with a party of 2 and one at the counter, pretty slow. There were two waitresses, a blonde with tattoos and the other lady, neither has a name tag.
Our waitress came over, never introduced herself, and took our order. Friendly at first. After about 10 minutes our food arrived. This was the last time our waitress provided any service too us.
One of the tables of 5 left, the other two were already eating. I watched as the waitresses spent more time with the large party tables than the smaller ones.
At one point, a party of two was leaving and I literally watched the customer stand by the register for 10 minutes waiting to pay his bill. There were NO employees on the floor. I watched as the waitresses would look in my direction but never came over to my table.
I watched the blonde waitress look at the customer waiting to pay and just keep walking away. Finally she came to my table and asked if we were ready for the check. I said yes. My wife asked to speak with the manager, and we were told there wasn't one there. I then just asked for my check.
I watched the blonde go tell our waitress something about us and it still took 5 minutes to come to our table. When she arrived she asked how everything was. I told her the food was okay and the service was poor. She then proceeded to make excuses of just returning to work, just coming off of maternity leave, and trying to get back into the swing of things. Rather than giving me my check, she walked away and came back with it 5 minutes later.
I believe in being fair, but poor service is poor service no matter how you spell it. No need for excuses, make it right. Apparently at Flo's poor service and excuses is the standard. Before you blame COVID as the reason for the failure, rest assured that we have been to many restaurants who provided far better service and were much busier than yours.
Lastly, I find it insulting that you don't provide discounts for seniors, veterans, or disabled veterans. Just so you know, I fall into all three categories. Doing for those who have worked their entire life or put their life on the line could bring you more loyal customers.
Management, rather than take this as a negative, take it as a learning opportunity on something that needs to be fixed to provide...
Read moreI was around the neighborhood deciding on where to have breakfast. I'm tired of all these chain restaurants where you eat the same thing just in different form. I walk by this lol restaurant that doesn't even seem open. The thing that caught my eye was this sign for a breakfast special. I, honestly didn't read it well but decided to see if this place was actually still existent. To my surprise it is. (There are lots of restaurants/stores in Riverside that seem to exist but are longer in service.) Okay, apparently the advertising that caught my eye only runs from m-th. I asked the joyful and welcoming server what she recommended. She said her favorite dishes she might recommend were the California omelette or the Chile Verde Omelette. Being the Latina that I am, I asked for the Chile verde Omelette. Here is where it gets good! It was the best breakfast I've had in a while. Everything was delicious. The omelette was covered with pork and the Chile Verde. You had just the right amount of pork for your plate. Not too much and not too little. The home fries were good all the way to the end. They never went cold. There were parts that were crunchy from the green peppers that were cooked with them. My food remained hot through out my breakfast. (That beats Denny's any day.) My plate also came with biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were small and gravy was good but with little time the gravy became warm almost cold. My biscuits might not have been all that to me but I could see they were people's favorite. Every table had them because you can hear the customers asking for it. Don't forget the coffee it goes great with this breakfast. You get a small jar that makes two cups of coffee. Overall, this place is great. Feels like real home cooking. One review might sound good, so ill keep up my findings and let you know how it goes. For now I really suggest you try the Chile...
Read moreThis spot made me realize, once again, how I need to go out more. 😂 Highly recommended this breakfast spot for Riverside. The menu is huge, and every item we received was SCRUMPTIOUS.
The service was homely and hospitable. We were served by a friendly, attentive staff that didnt seem to have a host, rather they worked as a unit to check in and tend to guests. Each person that spoke to us was so friendly, side note: they have a male dominated staff that could cure daddy issues 🤭 It was like a bunch of nice tios and grandpas whose voices sound like storytime and smiles feel like hugs.👴🏼
Back to the food:
The portions are TRULY American sized, we love a patriotic bang for your buck in this economy! 🇺🇲 Honestly, you could probably SHARE a plate between two people as my partner warned... but why do that when I can say, "Challenge Accepted." 🤤 ... I lost that challenge because I got full after a side of seduction lured me in, today's pick: Chili topped with shredded cheese and white onions.
Truth be told, I left waddling with only half my meal touched, I accepted temporary defeat and asked for boxes. As a measure of good luck, I made sure to reassure to my delactable turkey sandwich our love affair could continue after a siesta.
Can't wait to go back and do it all over. 🤠
Anyone have any idea how the pork chops are? My partner informed me the menu's apple sauce pairing to pork chops is an American classic... every day I wonder how I've gotten this far with a childhood diet of chicken nuggets. Here's to trying more culinary cuisines outside of your current comforts to expand...
