This restaurant has some growing pains to get past. I imagine a lot of the mistakes they made were due to their newness given that they opened in 2022. Though, these mistakes still made for an unenjoyable experience. I ordered the lobster roll (or lobster poboy), which was served cold. I assumed it was supposed to be served hot/fried, though when I asked one of the servers, he said it comes cold. When I received my receipt, it showed that I requested it to be served cold which I didn’t. I confirmed with the hostess who took our order that it could have indeed been served hot as I originally wanted. I have no idea why she assumed I wanted it cold. The meal was also supposed to be served with hush puppies. They apparently ran out and said “there weren’t any at the store” which leads me to believe that they don’t make their hush puppies in house, which is a small red flag to me. I asked if I could get extra fries instead, though they didn’t bring that out with my meal originally. The BIGGEST insult on the experience was that the price on the menu didn’t match the updated prices. The menu said $14.99 when the actual price was $24.99! To begin, don’t keep driving past, the place is easy to miss. Pull in, park in the courtyard or the nearby side street.
Three statements to summarize this mind-blowing experience are below: (1) my brain registered new flavours!!!!! The seafood is OUT OF THIS PLANET! Recommend conch fritters, fried blue crab, lobster rolls (the owner has a signature dipping sauce for the rolls which is the new flavor my brain had to register), king crab & shrimp boil. Realizing it’s easy to ruin a king crab given the size, this was the most tender 1lb king crab leg ever! (2) the owner and chef provide an amazing service and ensure you are having an incredible food experience. I used my hands the whole time and didn’t even feel weird about it. My husband loves sauces, he was enjoying his food so much the owner brought him an array of her sauces to try and even threw in a few extra conch fritters and fried crabs at the end just for him to try her homemade sauces (3) portions are generous but not too overwhelming so you can eat really well without feeling like you have to be wheelbarrowed out.
And I’ll end with this- ask the owner about how she got started, she’s got a great story!
Not kidding…. We are coming back tomorrow to try...
