Went to Haggerty's today .All the booths were full but every table was open including the outside tables. The hostess said she could seat us at the bar or we would have to wait for 15 to 20 minutes. I asked if we could sit at one of the open tables but she said it was for party of 4 only. so my wife and went outside to wait at one of the tables outside. A waitress came by and i asked if we could eat outside. She said that they were very busy and the staff needed 15 to 20 minutes to catch up. It appeared there was plenty of staff but they were just standing around. We then left because we did not want to over burden the staff. If you need a place to eat and the parking lot is half full give the servers and kitchen staff a break and eat somewhere else. They shouldn't have a hard day just so you can have a nice dining experience.
Update to Owners response: Your response clearly shows your lack of management skill. Your inability to manage and train staff is apparent. Putting the onus of responsibility on the patron to supervise YOUR staff is not the reason people dine out. Had you any management skill you would have apologized and offered an insignificant incentive to return and show the patron that the incident was not a normal representation of your normal business practices. For the cost of a free desert or a free drink you could have earned a patron who would return without the incentive. You freely admitted it was an issue with your server and your response insures you have permanently lost a...
Read moreEveryone kept telling us to go...Well, if you like poorly cooked, overpriced, pre-packaged frozen food, this may be the place for you. First, the waitress couldn't even tell us what came in the cocktail of the day. Then we ordered 'oysters on the half shell'. This means raw oysters. They were steamed. When we sent them back, the owner explained that the oysters weren't fresh, but frozen. You shouldn't advertise oysters as 'on the half shell' if they are steamed.
Then we got our steak. Which, clearly, had been frozen at some point. We ordered medium-rare. The edges were medium rare and the middle was raw. Plus, the steak tasted gamey. Throw in our pouty waitress...Well, the experience was simply awful. What is with this city? We have yet to find anything better than Cracker Barrel. Unsurprisingly, we will never be returning. Our issue isn't the frozen aspect, but rather the quality for the price. At these prices, the steak and overall dining experience quality should be at least higher. Bottom line: cost does not equal to the value of product and service.
FYI, saying the server was pouty is not childish. It is a fact. She pouted the rest of the night, made zero eye contact, barely spoke to us and didn't even wish us a 'good night'. And we STILL tipped her well even though SHE acted childish.
Oh, and you want to talk about behavior? Cool. Here's a picture of the owners response to another poor reviewer::: Is behaving like a bully...
Read moreWhile traveling, our hotel suggested this local restaurant. It was close by, and the interior was quaint and relaxing. They also have outdoor seating.
My husband ordered surf and turf, a ribeye steak and grilled scallops, fries as a side, and the house salad. I chose the hamburger steak and mac & cheese.
The house salad was a very generous salad in a deep bowl with plenty of toppings. You can opt to eliminate the standard toppings to your preferences. Each salad is made fresh to order. The lettuce and veggies were perfectly chilled and crisp.
The ribeye, scallops, and fries came with a grilled slice of Texas toast. The bread alone was delicious and had the right amount of butter.
The hamburger steak was a generous portion of meat with a gravy that was rich, a perfect consistency, and a depth of flavor. The onions in the gravy were thinly sliced and caramelized. The Mac & Cheese was homemade and a good choice. A slice of the grilled bread was included.
My appetite is small, and the portions definitely will fill up a standard person's. Even though we are traveling, I had the rest of my meal placed in a to-go box to enjoy later. On trips, we have an insulated cooler. Tonight, I get to enjoy the delicious flavors again.
Our server was a very nice, friendly, and personable young woman.
If you are passing through Roanke Rapids, NC, stop by this little gem and skip the chain restaurants...
