Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Robinson Township

Such a horrible experience with the owner and staff. My boyfriend and I decided to meet at this Rita's for a custard and an Italian ice. He got there probably 5 minutes before I did but as soon as I got there we went up and ordered. It was really hot out so we decided to sit in my car while we ate. About 10 minutes after we both finished we were still sitting there talking (since we both drove about 20 minutes to get to this place) when out of nowhere an older woman knocked on my passenger side window. My boyfriend opened the door and the woman asked him if that was his car next to mine... He told her it was and she said "well I'm the owner and you have to move it" !!!!! I was completely shocked (especially since the parking lot was empty) when she proceeded to say that his car had been sitting there for an hour (which it hadn't been) and that this was not a "meeting place". Still being shocked, I said we just finished our custard and Italian ice and were just sitting in my car talking! She said "well the workers called me bc that car has been in the parking lot for over and hour and that you guys didn't order anything so I drove here to tell you that you have to leave"... I am honestly completely shocked that this is how paying customers are treated by the staff and owner. I could see if we were 18 years old and causing a scene but we were two adults (25 & 30 years old) sitting in my car talking! We will NEVER give this place another penny & I will make sure everyone I know, knows how we were treated. show...

Not bad overall. My family and I finally gave this place a try after having moved to the general area and enjoy what they offer. Imagine, we never knew of the concept of custard and Italian ice before. Delicious! The few times we've been there so far have been decent, especially the gals that have served us. Typically friendly and nice to my kids. The older lady (owner?) is hit and miss. On one occasion, with no other customers, she seemed irritated because my kid had changed his mind about what he wanted. Another occasion, she was also irritated from the get go even though on that occasion the order was given without delays. Yet another time, when I brought family from out of town, she was nice. It threw me throu a loop because once I saw she'd be attending, I was already expecting her to be irritated and impatient. Surprisingly, she was cordial. My last few trips to this location have been disappointing. I recently visited over the weekend, not busy at all and no line. I am disappointed with the portion sizes. I’m not sure if the girl working was new or not. After my order was taken (large chocolate custard , large vanilla custard with chocolate sprinkles and I added on a pup cup) the girl came back to the window 5x time to ask my order and which one had sprinkles. And then forgot the pup cup. Which is fine when in training, we can all be patient. The portion size though was not a large for the amount we’re being charged.
