This is my favorite specialty coffee café in Michigan! Consistently top-notch coffee.
Situated in an unassuming strip mall in Rochester, Green Cup features a variety of exquisite, meticulously-prepared coffee and tea drinks, as well as delicious desserts (Albanian-style walnut baklava is a highlight) and made-to-order Italian panini sandwiches.
The atmosphere and decorating are modern, clean, and stylish. Although it is not large, the space is well used with tables and couches, and the impression is warm and friendly, attracting a range of people of all different ages. Generally, light jazz is playing in the background, but not too loud for conversation or quiet work like reading or studying at the table.
WiFi is freely available, and the internet connection is strong and adequate for video conferencing.
But the star of the show is the coffee: the espresso is expertly prepared, with a medium roast profile, and, when I lest checked with the barista, it was a varietal Ethiopian. The barista takes his time and does things right: I've watched him checking the distribution in the portafilter with precision before extracting my drink, and it shows how much he cares! He makes sure everything is correct before he serves it to his customers. Other specialty coffee drinks are available too.
This is real third-wave style specialty coffee, right in Rochester! The quality is better than what you find in Downtown Rochester (Dessert Oasis roasts too dark and serves over-extracted espresso) and the parking is much...
Read moreIn a city full of Starbucks and Target's, it's nice to see a new coffee and tea shop open up that's easily accessible and not located off Main Street with minimal parking. I stopped in here today after hearing about them through a few folks and figured I'd give them a shot.
Walking in, the place has great seating options and really well decorated. I approached the counter to see what drinks they had, and it's a great selection. I went with a Mocha for $5, and it was actually really good.
I had inquired about individual cups of tea, but the nice gentleman at the counter said it was by the pot for now. the pots are great, and from what I could tell, it's easily a few cups and probably better shared. They have loose leaf tea here which is fabulous, and I think they even have Matcha tea as well.
I hung out here for a bit while catching up on stuff and will be back. Located close to Miguels cantina, it's nice to have this place with ample parking and easy to get in and out of. I I'll be...
Read moreHmmm. I really wanted to like this place. The decor is very nice, the drinks sounded good and it was very clean inside.
The service was a bit slow, which is a bit of a bother when you have a little one waiting and ready to go and you are trying to make a relatively quick trip. Not sure if was all the special drinks being made that day or what.
Our drinks were very milky with not too much flavor. We decided to try one of their specials for Valentine's week and all 4 drink options fell short for us.
Also, the clientele looked at us like they had never seen a baby making a tiny bit of noise before in a coffee shop. News flash, babies will occasionally make noise, especially when waiting an extended duration for an order. Stop acting like pretentious individuals, like there isn't more ambient noise from coffee grinding, brewing and other conversation. If you want a quiet place, go to the...
