ALDI — Local services in Rochester Hills

Aldi is hands-down one of the best places to shop if you’re looking for quality groceries at unbeatable prices. Their no-frills approach means lower costs for customers, and I love how efficient their stores are. The selection may not be as vast as big-box supermarkets, but they carry everything I need—fresh produce, pantry staples, frozen foods, and even specialty items at a fraction of the cost.

Their store-brand products are surprisingly high-quality, often rivaling name brands. Plus, Aldi’s commitment to organic and healthier options has grown significantly, which is a huge plus. I also appreciate their limited-time “Aldi Finds,” where I can discover unique foods, home goods, and seasonal items at incredible deals.

The checkout process is always fast because of their efficient barcode system and bag-your-own-groceries setup. The only minor inconvenience is bringing a quarter for a cart, but it’s a small price to pay for the savings.

I hadn't visited this location for a while and I was disappointed when I recently did.

There was only one traditional cashier open, even though there were lots of customers waiting. The self scanners do not accept cash, so that is part of the problem.

Another problem is that some customers have very large orders. These are difficult to do in a self-scan check out, nor should one have to.

In addition, the one cashier, while checking out customers, had no choice but to keep yelling and trying to direct other customers to the self checkouts. In the course of checking out my order, she did this several times. I know it's not her fault, but the store needs to have someone else directing traffic to the self checkouts.

I asked to speak to the manager, who told me that they were "short staffed". Well then he should have been out there helping the situation. It should not all have fallen on the one cashier. It's not fair to her or the customers she is waiting on.

If your going to shop at Aldi go in the store don’t use the pick up service. I really like Aldi overall, but their pickup service is consistently disappointing. On my last order, I included 15 sparkling waters and even selected substitutions in case my chosen flavors weren’t available. Instead of fulfilling it, the employee marked them all “not available” and refunded me—yet when I went inside, the sparkling waters were sitting right there on the shelf.

This isn’t the first time, either. It seems like whenever I order heavier items, they just don’t bother to bring them out. I end up having to go inside and get them myself, which defeats the purpose of using pickup in the first place.
