Took a while, but I made time to leave THIS review, today. First I’d like to say to insomnia..”hold on to the gentleman who worked the morning shift, this Friday (morning).” If I don’t say more than that; it should be enough. Outstanding job, to him. Proficiency is not the word. This fella, put in muscle for what seemed like more than just the normal duty. Sir handled the sales, the ovens, the packaging and the atmosphere; all while keeping a positive attitude despite the frenzy of expectations of him. Once, I arrived there were shy of ten orders being made, all at once and I would say I was one of the earlier to see the doors open. Each time with a more impatient than-the-last guest; nevertheless, the “insomnianian” or isn for short that’s what I will refer to as the shop’s worker well, they greeted each head, that walked in, no matter how busy; ensuring them, they would be right with them and determining whether they were there for a pickup, or placing an order. The isn, alternating, between tasks would place priority on tasks/orders and deliver estimates to the best of their ability. Once able to explain to the early morning customers the sylloge of the wave that hit, the insomnianian began to gain a rhythm. (Creating a flow of guest getting in and out, receiving just what they were in for and more) I note this insomnianian’s craftsmanship due to the demand was more than it would take others to breakdown. However, despite the assortment of different flavors required to be made by isn, they were made in absence of defects. The store DID not lack in “supply” under their care. Walk-ins and advanced orders-alike were all taken care of during my...
Read moreI ordered 18 cookies for a Superbowl get together. I ordered them at 2:30 to be ready at 5:30pm for pick up. I was notified they were ready via email so I went to pick up at scheduled time. I walked in there and it was chaotic. So many people had also ordered ahead and it was like the workers didn't anticipate making the orders at all and none of them were actually ready. Not much sense of urgency from the workers. People would walk in and order a cookie or two and get them immediately (I waited for 30 minutes for an order that was "ready"). First I was told we were waiting on chocolate chunk then the story changed to were waiting on oatmeal which says to me they were taking cookies out of my order to give to walk inside. Not cool. I have been there a couple times and the food is good however I feel they need more training on how to handle a rush and how to handle scheduled orders. I eventually had to problem solve for them and say give me any type of cookie instead of oatmeal I don't care because I'm going to be late for...
Read moreI’ve been eating Insomnia Cookies since college and honestly, I’ve always preferred it over Crumbl. I never understood the hype with Crumbl—too much sugar, not enough actual flavor. As a peanut butter enthusiast, my go-to has always been the Peanut Butter cookie and the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Classics that never disappoint.
That said, this Rochester Hills location has been a bit of a letdown. I’ve come here to relive some of that college nostalgia, but my orders have been messed up a few times—missing items that were clearly on the receipt. It kills the vibe when you’re looking forward to a specific cookie and it’s just not there.
Also, a quick note to Insomnia as a chain: if I’m dialing the local store’s number, don’t make me go through a whole call tree just to reach someone at the counter. Sometimes I just want to check on an order or ask a quick question—keep it simple.
Still a fan overall, but hoping this location...
