Shish Palace — Restaurant in Rochester Hills

Last Weekend I once again used Shish Palace to cater my (other) son's high school graduation party. Once again, the food was great, the guests were raving, and I was the hero for hosting a party with such fabulous food.

A couple things were different about this event that I think stand out.

First, the containers that the food came in kept the food HOT into the night. They were like giant coolers, but for keeping the food hot. The trays slid in and out easily. I picked the food up at 1:30 for a 3:00 party and the food was still piping hot at 8 pm. I never had to put anything in my oven to keep it warm.

The other thing different about this party was that I had some guests with gluten and dairy sensitivities. I called Moe and he explaned which of my entress and sides had gluten or dairy in them. My gluten sensitive guests were able to choose from several of the items in the meal, and they too raved about the delicious food.

The party was a great success, guests were raving about how delicious the food was. The presentation (of the food) was top notch, very creative. All I had to do was lay the trays out. And abundant! Lot's of food. Great value for sure.

All in all a wonderful catering experience. I would not hesitate to use Shish Palace on Livernois to to cater my next son's grad party in...

Yes, I ordered a Caesar salad from a Mediterranean restaurant. We'll get that out of the way. I've been here many other times and have ordered other traditional salads. However, this time, I saw something new. Don't-- it's utterly awful. The dressing tasted old and cheap, which was made worse by how much they used. My salad was swimming in salad dressing. I ate about half because I was starved. My husband ate none. He tried to eat the chicken off but the salad was so bad it killed his appetite. Why have the salad if you're not going do it right?

We ordered rice instead of fries for our daughter. The server gave us fries anyway. Since it was already placed in front of her and came out five minutes after our meal, we didn't complain.

There's only one server in the entire restaurant. He's understandably slow. What's not understandable is gratuity already added on to a party of three. I used to be server, I understand it's hard and tip better than most. However, already having gratuity added without any notification is almost criminal. Also, at 20% for subpar service with an incorrect order and awful food? There's no need to have good service or hire more servers if you're going to up charge anyway.

The tables seem to be tight together. They have booths and wanted one, but it seemed like the host insisted that we sit in the tight tables. The food is great, and the bread tastes fresh and warm, and the garlic spread is amazing. We got the sampler. Some items didn't seem as fresh. There was so much food for two people and the variety is nice. The rice is delicious, hummus is smooth, has a great flavor, and has a great amount. You have about four types of meats and tasted great, but one tasted a little dry. Grape leaves are tasty. I had the lamb chili and wish I asked for a larger size because it was filling and really balanced. I would go back to get the chili, grape leaves, their bread and rice. The sampler is perfect for dine in or a movie night or just chill at home and can't have too many cravings at once. I wanted to try the smoothie but will when it's warmer out. There was no music in the background and the host kept asking if we were done and dropped of containers without asking if we wanted anything else. I was thinking about dessert but with all of the leftovers... he misses out on an upsell. I also asked which was his favorite the lentil soup or the lamb chili and he only told me what a lot of people get. I chose the chili because I love trying new things and so glad I did. There are booths if you have a wheelchair. Most of the tables are along a path. A transfer might be more difficult because of how tight...
