The Port of Peri Peri — Restaurant in Rochester Hills

WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. HELL.

I trusted Port of Peri Peri with my dinner and my mouth, and they VIOLATED that trust with the culinary equivalent of assault. I specifically ordered MEDIUM spice. MEDIUM. Not "send me to the emergency room." Not "make me question my life choices." MEDIUM.

What arrived was nothing short of MOLTEN LAVA disguised as chicken. My first bite felt like someone had taken a blowtorch directly to my tongue. Tears streamed down my face as I desperately gulped water that did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to extinguish the inferno raging in my mouth.

And the rice? THE RICE?! Who in their right mind makes RICE spicy without warning?! It was supposed to be my safe haven, my respite from the chicken inferno, but NO! The rice was practically WEAPONIZED with spice! My entire mouth was under siege from all directions!

I couldn't taste ANYTHING for the rest of the night. My lips were still burning HOURS later. I had to eat an entire pint of ice cream just to feel human again. This wasn't a meal; it was an act of SABOTAGE against my digestive system.

The audacity to call that "medium" spice is nothing short of FALSE ADVERTISING. Do they think we're all fire-breathing dragons? Do they enjoy watching customers suffer? Is this some kind of sick joke?!

Save yourselves the pain and humiliation of sitting in a restaurant trying not to cry while your mouth is literally ON FIRE. Port of Peri Peri doesn't deserve your business if they can't grasp the basic concept that "medium" shouldn't feel like you've just gargled with napalm.

ZERO STARS. Would give NEGATIVE stars if possible. My taste buds may never forgive me for...

I’m very, very glad that “The Port of Peri Peri” finally opened!! While many eatery’s have increased their pricing, I do have to say that this place is worth every “Peri” penny 🙋‍♂️. Plentiful chicken options but I specifically chose the following highlights:

Peri Cassava Fries which came with two delightful dipping sauces.

Veg Burger because I prefer to be different (medium spice level), which is hotter than locally, standard medium.

Steamed Vegetables which were nicely & lightly seasoned.

Sultan Power drink note it doesn’t have any caffeine but includes some sugar and stevia. I chose the ginger and honey 🍯 drink which was perfectly satisfying for me.

I would definitely order the same again but will try the other diverse protein options before I have their chicken which is what they’re well known for. Now…Order up & welcome to...

The chicken was terribly dry, the port house salad was just corn, lettuce and onion and upon asking for dressing, a gentleman from the back came to the front to let me know that all of the salad dressings were expired, which leads me to believe that no one order salad and they haven’t checked the expiration dates on their salad dressing. The gentlemen was nice enough to refund the salad. However, the chicken burger was terrible. The Perry Perry chicken was also extremely dry dry to the point where it was not edible unfortunately, this is a place that I would not return back additionally, while waiting for my food, I saw one of the counter workers using a microwave, which then leads me to believe that some or most of the food is not cooked fresh the Peri Peri chicken I did notice him cooking on the grill, but then he cooked it so much it dried...
