We stopped for something different, tired of the same dishes when eating out. We have been in the past, but it was a few years ago. The menu has many chicken options and ribs. They have three different bbq sauce options at the table, to create the spice level you desire. Sides are mostly commercial. Even the Mac n cheese seemed yo be pre-made vs homemade. Corn, baked beans, broccoli, French fries, coleslaw, loaded baked potato. They were okay, but nothing exceptional. We ordered the cheese burger which was good. The bun wasn’t our favorite and the lettuce wasn’t romaine. It was a leaf of ice burg and had a piece of the core still attached. And it was served that way 🫤. We had ketchup at the table, but no mustard. Waited for waitress to come back by and check on us to request it. She never came. Finally got up and went to the kitchen area where other staff were standing around talking to get mustard. Our waitress was setting down and did apologize as I took the mustard back to the table. I ordered the chicken strips, fries and Mac-n-cheese. Wasn’t a fan of the corn inside the Mac-n-cheese. Didn’t eat it. I did enjoy the corn bread muffin, but it wasn’t served with butter or honey. I did ask for sone when waitress came by. She brought us each one tiny container of butter. My hubby used it, as not enough for both of us. Still no honey….maybe they don’t have it? Not for sure. The place was quiet for a Saturday night at 6pm. No waiting to be seated. Maybe 6 other tables occupied. Parking in front and ample. Bar area and they have desserts - pie, from Baker Square. We haven’t had their pie since they left town before the pandemic. Might be nice to grab pies there for holiday get together. They have a nice seating area outside for warmer weather. Not too loud inside, could have conversation together. We were offered to go box for leftover, but not dessert. Will grab that next time,...
Read moreWell its 01/17/2020. In Rochester for a sporting event. Went here to get some familiar BBQ food, ordered with our given waiter/waitress. We then waited 43 minutes. My food was as cold as my mountain dew. Still tasted fine, but my wife's was the complete wrong order. The waitresses then took her whole plate with the extra cornbread that she ordered. I gave my lady the cornbread from my plate. 10 minutes later we finally got my wife's order correct. We ate and sat there, 27 minutes, I got up to go get a refill and some to go boxes, a bag, and some bbq sauce. Our server didn't even acknowledge that I got up and walked from the back of the restaurant, past two full party tables 14 people at each party. Sat back down and still the time it took for our check and the built up frustration,,, we will not be going to this Famous Dave's anytime soon. We still like the recipe Dave's has, but the one employee we had serve us ruined my personal experience at this particular location. So at the same night and town we stayed at a hotel, started in room 312, found hairs in the sheets and food mashed in microwave, They moved us to room 322, after Famous Dave's we went back to room 322, then the TV didn't work, wife called front office. Had management come into room look at TV. Said we will move you to room 311. It's a suite is this okay? This is happening as I write this. Wife and kid going to look at room while I'm here finishing my RANT that will never be completely read.. Point of story STAY OUT OF ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA.. Well unless you can handle the slow pace don't give a F*@& ...
Read moreSeriously if there was an option to pick ZERO stars I would have. Famous Dave's is one of my top 5 restaurants in Rochester. Even though I'm on a 75-hard challenge of 75 days without meat, I still yearn for Famous Dave's sauces. Tonight I placed an online order for broccoli, beans & corn with Wilbur's sauce on the side. First off when I got there, I waited 10 minutes before anyone even checked to see what I needed. Then when they finally did, it was a very sweet, cool, loving waitress, who helped me. She struggled at first as she thought i was there to place an order. I wasn't, I was there to pick up an order I placed online. Long story short I asked for some BBQ sauce as again, they forgot to put it in my bag. I had specified I wanted Wilbur's sauce online & they didn't give me any. The new waitress went back to get my sauce and it took another 10 minutes, she finally came back and said "My boss said that because you didn't order meat, we can't give you any sauce." REALLY???? WTHELL? Does the boss lady get to decide who puts BBQ sauce on what? The most ridiculous thing I ever heard. The manager wouldn't give me sauce cause I didn't order meat. I dip my broccoli in it every time I go there to eat. Fortunately, she didn't see me or she woulda wiped the BBQ sauce right off my plate Unbelievable, poor poor service, food was cold, and I had to drink the Wibur's baked beans because they forgot to give me...
