We were seated promptly by a very friendly and courteous hostess. Our waitress was very attentive and had good recommendations for things on the menu. We ordered a Charcuterie board for 2. My wife ordered the Butternut Squash ravioli and I ordered the Mushroom Passion with added shrimp, additionally I asked for a glass of wine to come out with dinner.
When the charcuterie board arrived we asked the waitress what was on the board and she said that she didn't know. By my estimate I believe there was capicola, sopresotta, salami, prosciutto, and some kind of sausage that was very reminiscent of a slim jim. the cheese was a brie and something we think was a sharp cheddar in a large piece with a few chunks broken off. additionally there were some rather large crackers, strawberries, cucumbers, and a jam with strawberries on top. The arrangement was a bit haphazard but overall attractive in a chaotic way.
The jam with strawberries on it you would think would be strawberry jam, or maybe a fig jam as is common on charcuterie boards. Nope it was Habanero Bacon Jam. For my spice loving palate it was not too spicy, but my wife was very surprised by it. It tasted primarily of smoky spicy barbecue sauce and I did enjoy it. The rest of the board was satisfactory if a bit basic, the crackers were not well suited to a charcuterie board and there was only the two cheeses but there was a significant portion of the meats which is good to see.
Almost immediately after we were served the charcuterie board our entrees came out. Made for an awkward situation when we are still actively trying to eat the charcuterie board.
Once the waitress came around to see how the charcuterie board was tasting she seemed surprised to see that our entrees had been served. She remarked on this and came around with the wine I had ordered shortly after.
As for the entrees.
The Butternut Squash Ravioli came with 5 ravioli and had a healthy portion of grilled chicken. The dish worked well together, and was full of wonderful fall flavors. There was, however, a significant sauce to ingredient ratio. My wife managed to stretch it with additional pasta for 3 more portions, great for leftovers, awkward at the table.
The Mushroom Passion was quite good, a well balanced dish with healthy portions of the mushrooms and the shrimp over a bed of expertly al dente pasta. It was more than I could finish especially considering we were planning to enjoy dessert.
Dessert:
The Tiramisu was excellent, a perfect blend of all the traditional flavors and a significant portion as well.
The Salted Caramel Cheesecake was quite good though the almond crust seemed to have a more coarse texture than the dish really wanted. The cheesecake filling was well done and had a wonderful texture, and the salted caramel sauce on top was delicious.
All in all despite the quirks, we enjoyed the food immensely, and for quite some time afterward. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was top notch. However the charcuterie board was a bit chaotic. The Waitress did not know or introduce the Charcuterie board, and specifically the Habanero jam not being identified was a huge miss. To be completely honest the strawberries on top seemed to be actively trying to mislead us, I wonder if the kitchen had a laugh about that. Communication between the wait staff and kitchen team seemed to mess with the timings of the courses and ratios in a few dishes were odd to say the least. Bottom line we will definitely be back to try more of the menu, and perhaps the service issues were just a one time fluke,...
Read moreThe menu was very similar to favorites from the Victorias menu. The two adult dishes were perfection, totally on point. Seriously perfect. We ordered 3 Childrens meals and two were equally delicious. The third child’s meal was NOT edible. It was Alfredo with mushrooms. No idea what they put on the mushrooms, but it was so salty. The child that took a bite, started screaming. We ordered it to go and picked up from restaurant. My first thought was she burned her mouth. It must be that hot. However, it was only warm as we just hauled it across town. I couldn’t imagine what was wrong. She spit it out and started drinking, still crying. I stuck my finger in the middle and it was just warm. She kept saying it burns. I took a single mushroom in my mouth and it was horrible. I immediately spat it out. Just pure salt and garlic. It was definitely a mistake. I’m not sure if they went to season the group of mushrooms they were cooking and forgot to mix it with the other mushrooms. Honestly no idea how you make this big of an error. It was totally an edible dish. My dish got cold, while I was trying to console the child and get the burning to stop in both of our mouths. The salt was so great it left our tongues burning and dry. I would have sent it back to the kitchen at the restaurant for them to be able to identify what happened, if it wasn’t carry out. It was that bad. I have only ever sent back one dish in my entire life. I also took off a star for the dinner rolls. They are typically amazing at Victoria and I was sure they would be equally great here. They were hard both inside and out. Very old. It was Labor Day at dinner, that we ordered carry out. So it’s entirely possible being a holiday weekend they didn’t have anyone to make fresh rolls. It was close to 5pm towards the end of the day and maybe they didn’t have any better options to serve. It would have been better to serve without the rolls then the dried out, crumbled rolls we got. We weren’t able to eat them. The location is beautiful. More than generous portion size. Parking is on location and ample. Our online order was scheduled for pick up 18 minutes from being placed. Super fast in my eyes, faster than we could drive to the restaurant. It was ready, and waiting for our pick up when we arrived. Everything was included, plus butter, silverware. The containers did leak a bit, but likely that was our fault in transit as the bag tilted at one point for a...
Read moreI’ll start by saying we were very excited to try this place because we’ve previously had an amazing experiences at Victorias. That being said, it was horrible.
The entryway was very congested and the hostess appeared overwhelmed and undertrained which led to us waiting for a no wait on the patio and got seated behind 5-6 parties that came in after us despite us trying to get her and other staffs attention multiple times, she eventually asked us if we were still waiting and finally sat us. The server came off the same way and disinterested or unable to explain the menu, asked about GF appetizer options to which she just stared at us and we eventually said never mind just the entrees and she said oh so you’re good then? Ordered a drink which came out wrong, stopped a manager to try and get it corrected since our server was nowhere to be found, let her know I ordered a mojito and pointed to the margarita on the table she said ok, I said that’s a margarita she said ok, I literally had to say I’d like a mojito to which she again said ok and grabbed the drink without any sort of sorry about that or I’ll be back with the correct drink. Mind you it had already taken 20+ min for the wrong drink and I had only ordered a drink to try and warm up because the incomplete patio was freezing and without any heaters (An older lady next to us was covering up with napkins). I started to let our server know when she came back so she would know the bar was making what I’d ordered and the manager started yelling across the patio saying she already took care of it and that the bar was making it and glared at us like we were wrong for asking for what we ordered, paying for, and trying to relay it to our server. Got our food, both dishes were far from what we anticipated. Bland to no flavors and the chicken was overcooked. The drink I actually ordered got delivered long after our food and was also made poorly.
It was beyond apparent at that point that their emphasis/goal is revenue vs quality of food/experience/customer service. Communication between staff top to bottom is poor. Customer service was horrendous. Food/drink were lackluster. We rarely get a night out without the kids and tried to give benefit of the doubt that it’s a newer restaurant but it just kept going downhill. We won’t be back. Save your time and money and...
