I want to preface this by stating I have worked many years in the restaurant industry, and so has my sister. From Chicago to Rochester, I’ve truly experienced the worst end of patrons not getting their way.
Tonight, my sister and I thought to get some Margaritas and tacos at Backdoor. Neither of us had been there before but we thought to try it out. Night started off fine. We got a spot at the bar and the bartender greeted us and got us drinks and our food order fairly quickly. But that was the last interaction we had with her. From the moment we got our food from the bar back, we did not get a single acknowledgement from any of the 5 people working the bar.
After 25 minutes, and witnessing one of the bartenders take a shot with his friends & fiddle with the TV channels and music a million times), we finally grabbed his attention, as he was the closest. I asked him if he could take our dirty plates and glasses as they had been sitting empty for quite a bit. My sister also asked for the check. When he came back he asked if it was even ours. Great question since our original bartender was no where to be seen. After I confirmed it was our check, I told him that it might have been nice if we had any sort of acknowledgment from any of them during our time there. His response? It was our fault because we didn’t speak up. Okay… rude… I could understand that if it was a huge bar & super busy, but we had ordered food & drinks and it was dead behind us. You can afford to pay a little attention to your patrons sitting there.
Like I said, we’ve both worked in the service industry and I can understand a busy night, short staffed crew and too much on their plate. With empty tables & other groups being taken care of, this was not the case. A simple apology would’ve gone a long way, but he was rude & arrogant - which is hilarious considering the food and atmosphere did not warrant for it.
TLDR; Subpar Mexican food & margs. Even worse service....
Read moreMy husband and I were excited about checking out The Backdoor as we are lovers of tequila and tacos. We gave our experience 2 stars out of 5 stars. Upon entering the restaurant there was not a host or anything indicating how to get a table. The bartender was super nice and ensured we were sat once a table was clean. Our service was unfortunately very poor. It seemed as though our server had not been trained. She didn’t introduce herself. She took our drink order and our drinks were served not too long afterwards. We asked for water and water was never brought out to us. After waiting over 20 minutes our server did not take our order. She ended up taking the order of the table next to us first despite that table being sat after us. My husband had to flag down our server for us to place an order. Looking around tables had emptied plates and menus were never taken off our table. Our drinks we’re amazing. The most redeeming part of our experience. I ordered a pineapple jalapeño margarita and my husband ordered a blackberry margarita. The pineapple jalapeño margarita was spicy and amazing. Once we were able to order, we ordered chips and queso, ground beef, shredded chicken, carnitas, and the fish tacos. We ordered the “American style” and our tacos arrived with no manchego cheese. Our tacos were bland and needed seasoning. There was not salsa which would have helped. We were unimpressed and disappointed with the food. Our server never once checked on us after our food arrived. We were not asked for any drink refills which was disappointing as we both wanted another margarita. The service was extremely disappointing. As a new restaurant this place has so much potential! There needs to be some tweaks to their service and food. We will be back only for the drinks and to sit at the bar where we would receive better service. We recommend The Backdoor if you’re looking for delicious drinks but not for the food or...

Wow, where do I even begin? From the moment I stepped into Backdoor Taco and Tequila Bar, I knew I was in for an unforgettable experience. The ambience was lively and energetic and artistic.
The friendly and knowledgeable staff greeted us warmly and offered fantastic recommendations on both their taco and tequila selections. I decided to go with a trio of tacos. Each one was a masterpiece in its own right, with perfectly seasoned and tender meats, fresh and flavorful salsas, and soft, warm tortillas. It's safe to say that these were the best tacos I've ever had!
As for the tequila, our server guided us through their impressive collection and helped us find the perfect pairing for our meal. The tequila added an extra layer of depth and flavor to the already amazing tacos, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
On top of all this, the service was attentive and efficient without being intrusive, ensuring that our dining experience went smoothly from start to finish.
In summary, Backdoor Taco and Tequila Bar is an absolute must-visit for any taco and tequila enthusiast. The combination of exceptional food, drink, and service make it a true gem. I can't wait to return and explore more of their mouthwatering menu! Five stars all the...
