We decided to take a walk around the City of Rochester's Municipal Park. We walked for over an hour stopping at various spots to take photos of the many buildings and various other activities.
The sundial(photos are all bleached out)as you enter from the parking lot next to the pollinating garden stands out as a very large structure.
Lots of ducks in and around the area. Also birds and squirrels flying and scurrying around the area.
There were 4 tennis courts, over a mile of paved walkway and a pond (for skating in the winter).
As far as buildings went. There was the open air shelters (the Kiwanis Shelter and the enclosed Lion's Shelter), Restrooms, Warming House, amphitheater for Music in the Park and Rochester Community House accessible from Ludlow Street.
For the children, 2 playground areas, one at the north end off Ludlow Street and one at the south end at the end of Pine Street.
Throughout the park area there were water fountains for both people and even a faucet to fill a dog bowl. Also a bike repair station and bike rack and a hot coal bin.
What makes this park really unique is that Paint Creek meanders through the entire park and Paint Creek Trail is along the edge of the park that goes up to Lake Orion.
Definitely a place to come back and visit...
Read moreThis is a great family friendly park! It stretches for a pretty long time with a river that runs through it the entire length. On one end kids can actually walk into the river and wade in to the water a little bit. On the other end it gets a bit deeper and a little bit faster. Plenty of benches along the route for sitting and relaxing. Tons of families come here to do things like ride bikes, check out different events in the summer, and play at the playground. There's also a volleyball court, another smaller playground, and plenty of green space to play catch or hang out with your family. The knocks I have for this place are lack of bathrooms as there's really only one pavilion. And there are no grows and the park, which I suppose being such a tight neighborhood Park that's probably because they don't want the densely packed area to get smoked out. Plenty of places nearby to grab picnic fare or carry out. Ice cream places are...
Read morea beautiful place to bring the kids... Oops , I mean teens! Weve graduated from the mini play equipment to walking the paths! There are restrooms in "middle" of park. Also public restroom behind/kiddie corner to police station. Far side of fountain if you park on Pine Street side. The parking lot is excellent. Large and people generally pay more attention here in this parking lot. Alot of pedestrian traffic...plus bicycles, dogs. Ps..if you want to bring your pet into this park you need to visit the station to obtain BRIGHT PINK Rochester park pass. Vaccines records needed to verify all pets up to date on everything. Safety first!....Update 7/20/2022. I absolutely love the new (to me) butterfly gardens. I come here to meditate and let it all go out to nature. The gardens are outside just over the bridge ..outside the "park" by the Police station side. Monarch butterfly gardens....amazing foilage and...
