The Machine Shed — Local services in Rochester

I have never had a bad experience with service. The staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere here is always very laid back. They are a five star company in that regard.

However, the maintenance of the arcade has been disappointing lately. I visited months back, Star Wars Trilogy was broken, joystick wouldn't work in one corner of the screen. Several other machines are down but I don't remember specifics. Reported it, staff were appreciative, and I just kind of put off coming back for awhile. Visited in Nov 2023 months later. Star Wars Trilogy joystick issue from before is fixed but the trigger is broken, thankfully there's a second button that works so I can work around it. Jurassic Park Pinball, and Space Invaders pinball are also not working properly, no work around for those. Once again, I reported the issues to the employee and he wrote it down and was very polite.

I feel like the people at the arcade care, but it feels like most of the maintenance is being done in response to customer complaints, or perhaps they're having other issues with finding people to do repairs. The $10 for the day means that you can't just test a machine with a dollar, see if it works, and go from there. I really hope to see fewer machines down in the future because I love the arcade here. But for now, if you want to play certain machines maybe see if the staff can tell you if they're working...

Took my husband here for his birthday last night. It was definitely one of the coolest places I’ve been to in a long time. We bought SNES games at a decent price. The guys at the counter were awesome, helpful, and went above and beyond anything I ever expected. They had a bunch of old systems hooked up so that you could play and try the games out. They had a little arcade in the back which was super cool. The prices were pretty great for the games we did buy. We are also going to do future business with them and have them fix a few of our old SNES games to put new batteries in them. I feel like the price that was quoted was inexpensive. I hope they stay around for a long time to come. One of the greatest hidden gems in Rochester. Anyone that likes video games should check this store out and absolutely support it. They even have some amazing collectors items if you’re into that. My hope for your future is to be able to have a larger building some day and get more stuff!!! From what I heard they just expanded but you guys got something special here, I’m so proud of you all. I will absolutely be a repeat customer. This store brought back fond memories of my childhood. First and foremost I highly recommend The Machine Shed for their extraordinary customer service and excellent selection of video games and systems. I visited The Machine Shed from out of town during a trip with family to Rochester. I came in to look for some specific games and systems and was helped by James. James helped me find some of the games I was looking for and gave me some recommendations based on my selections. I was also looking for a rare handheld system and James let me know he had some in his warehouse that he was fixing. I wasn't going to be in town for a long time, so James made it a priority to get the system so I could test it. I found a problem with the system and was leaving the next day, so James went the extra mile to get the issue fixed quickly and ship me the system without hesitation. His communication was fantastic and it was great to work with him. I received the system and it works perfectly! I'm very grateful for the outstanding service that James provided and his willingness to go above and beyond to help a customer, it is something you don't see very often anymore. I am also very happy with the purchases I made.
