I attended the Grand Opening of Panda Express on Wednesday, November 20th. I’ve had Panda Express before, but not as frequently as I would’ve liked because there was not a location in Rock Hill. I was there for all of the Grand Opening festivities which included the ribbon cutting ceremony with the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce, a special performance by the Rock Hill High Band and spins from Elite Entertainment. Also, as one of the first 88 guests, I received a Panda Express branded t-shirt and tote bag.
The restaurant was clean and casual while the décor held onto Chinese tradition, but with a modern twist. There was inclement weather that morning, but the staff did their best to keep the floors dry despite the crowd. I must also add that the staff was very welcoming and friendly.
I tried a Panda Bowl with Honey Walnut Shrimp and Fried Rice. This entrée was a whole lot better than I thought it would be. In fact, it became my favorite entrée there, beating out the Orange Chicken. The shrimp was an excellent size, the walnuts were crunchy, the sauce was sweet, and the fried rice had a traditional taste. I also tried the Plate option, which came with two entrées and a side. I chose the Black Pepper Sirloin Steak, Original Orange Chicken, and Chow Mein. The Black Pepper Sirloin Steak was stellar as it was packed with the most flavor out of all the entrees. There was also a plentiful amount of steak and the veggies were crisp. The Orange Chicken is a classic dish, which tasted just like I remember it to be. Chow Mein isn’t a side I normally get, but it will be one of my regulars now because I enjoyed it so much at my visit. I also enjoyed the Chicken Egg Roll and the Apple Pie Roll.
Overall, I think the food has an excellent quality for the price. I can’t wait to go back to try more and I hope this location gets the...
Read moreCame in with my business partner. This panda express had literally several DoorDash drivers waiting on food. Nobody else was in there as far as customers are concerned all of the proteins the meats were empty except for orange chicken and teriyaki chicken so by default we went with the orange chicken and teriyaki chicken. Neither of us have ever tried the teriyaki and we normally never go for the orange chicken unless we got a taste for it that day we were set on getting the shrimp and the steak bite pieces that are like mixed with vegetables, but like I said everything was empty and it was taking the cook forever to make the food. I definitely won’t be going back. The one in Fort Mill does a way better job not to mention the people that were putting your food in the containers or scratching their faces and scratching their head very off putting. I can see why they only have 3 stars they should have less. Oh, and me trying to call did nothing but waste more of my time because they don’t...
Read moreWe have eaten as this location since they’ve opened many times. Up to recently the food, portions, service has been great. They’ve recently had a change in management. Since this change the quality, portions and service has gone downhill. This evening just as the last time we visited no one including the manager were wearing gloves while handling the food. I watched as they were working at the register interacting with customers and money transactions, wiping tables and counters with cleaning supplies and rags then going directly to the food area without cleaning they’re hands or putting on gloves. The portioning has gone down, not the same as we’ve experienced before and do experience at other locations, the portions are considerably smaller. We are very disappointed with this location and...
