Iām upset about the NC noodle bar in Rockhill. My husband, daughter, and I had gone to this restaurant many times when the previous owners were still there. We never had an issue until the new owner took over. My husband is a disabled veteran and has a service dog. When we entered the building, we were immediately informed that āthere can be no dogs Iām allergic toā said one of the servers. and said, āyou guys will have to leave or sit outside.ā Then my husband explained that heās a disabled wartime veteran, and his dog was a service dog for those who don't know. Under the law, no one can discriminate against people with disabilities and service animals. The server said it did not matter and kept making it an issue for us to have my husband's service dog. We asked to speak to the owner to discuss the situation, and he refused to talk to us and told us that this was the only time we would be allowed to eat there with my husbandās service dog and that next time it wouldnāt be allowed. We asked again to speak with the owner to show him my husband's paperwork, although not required, and explain parts of the law that site this act as discrimination. The owner refused again and did not want to be professional enough to give us the courtesy of hearing out paying customers. This situation made the visit very uncomfortable, and my husband felt incredibly discriminated. The only reason we stayed was that our little girl wanted to stay, and we thought we should not cause a scene in front of her. But then also told us we needed to sit away from people. We are incredibly disappointed, and this is the first encounter we've experienced this level of ignorance of people with disabilities with service animals. This restaurant may have good food, but I hope they get some education on what to do when serving people with disabilities with service animals. We are beyond hurt and disappointed by this and can't believe this has happened. No one should be treated like this by any place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were excited to try this place as we're always looking for something new to try. The inside was clean & neat which was a good start. We ordered the Vietnamese Fresh Rolls as an appetizer and they were very large and loosely wrapped. They were also devoid of flavor, probably because they were 90% iceburg lettuce, which was odd. As we were waiting for our main course, we overheard a nearby table asking the hostess/waitress whether the bathrooms had a changing table for their baby. The hostess/waitress then answered "I'm not really sure, but you can change her right there on the booth, I don't care." Ummm... we're in a restaurant, right?!? My husband and I were so grossed out after that. Fortunately, the mother had sense enough to just take the baby out to the car and change her there, but I can't believe the hostess would suggest that. Our food came shortly after. We ordered the House Special (which we weren't really sure what it was suppose to be by the description, but figured if it was the special it was good) and the Drunken Noodles. Honestly, the food was lackluster. My Drunken Noodles were OK, but nothing like any other drunken noodles I've had. The House Special was apparently like the roll, mostly iceburg lettuce with some rice noodles and pork in a green curry type of sauce. It was not good and for the price we paid for what we got (and it was lunch time, not dinner) we were incredibly disappointed. Save your money, drive to Charlotte and go to any other Asian restaurant - I guarantee it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery good food at good prices, but takeout and delivery orders are consistently wrong (3 times out of 5 for me).
I say this as a lover of spicy food: If you cannot handle spicy food, absolutely do NOT eat here. They use a scale of spiciness from 0 to 5, but the scale is extremely arbitrary and fluctuates constantly. Some times I will get level 4 of 5 and barely detect any heat, other times 1 of 5 will be extremely spicy. Many menu items also come with a certain spice level and this is not reflected online when ordering from certain places such as on food.google. You can still choose "no spice" but the meal will come with a spice level that is close to 3 out of 5, for example. Just be aware if you're ordering online.
If you love spicy food, they make some really great stuff, just make sure to have your own hot sauce or paste at home if you're ordering takeout or delivery because it may arrive with no or little spice. Also be aware that if your food arrives too spicy for you when you thought you were getting no or low spice, you will not be given a refund if such a thing happens, management will essentially blame you for not reading a menu on a different website where they DO list certain items as having spice by default.
Overall, food that is sometimes great for spicy food lovers but with terrible consistency on the seasoning. You might find something way too hot to eat, and you also might find your food bland when you wanted it super spicy. I unfortunately cannot recommend...
