I am very disappointed in Luigi & Son in Rock Hill, SC. I ordered 7 Chicken Alfredo dinner plates for my family and paid $123.09. This was my very first time ordering Chicken Alfredo from them and it was extremely dry, lack seasoning and barely had any chicken on the plates. Before placing my order, I specifically requested for the Chicken Alfredo to be saucy. The server said with an attitude ,said she can tell them less noodles and more sauce. Then I told her that it’s not that I don’t want a lot of noddles I just want enough sauce to cover the noddles. Then she said well you would have to pay $5 per pint of extra sauce so how many do you want? Then I told her that I didn’t want to pay for any additional sauce, especially after purchasing 7 plates. I also advised this was my first time ordering Chicken Alfredo from them so I honestly didn’t know whether the Alfredo was saucy or dry. Then she advised that it would be saucy. I also requested that 3 out of the 7 salads to not have olives. After getting the salads, none of the salads had olives. I requested that the food be ready by 5:00pm to get it after work. I arrived about 5:30pm and when I looked at one of the plates, I didn’t see any sauce. I asked one of the server if the sauce was on the bottom and she said yes so I left I thought everything was ok. Once I got home, I gave my family their plates and after tasting it, everyone felt it was dry and tasteless. I called the manager to tell her about our experience and she said I should’ve asked for the sauce on the side because the noddles absorbs the sauce. But how would I have known to ask for the sauce on the side if this is my first time ordering their Chicken Alfredo and the server on the phone when placing on order didn’t suggest it after I told her this was my first time and that I wanted it saucy. I make Chicken Alfredo all the time at home from scratch and the noddles doesn’t absorb the sauce hours later. The only way that will happen is if it it wasn’t that much sauce to begin with. The resolution the manager provided was that the next time I order she will give me 1 free sauce after I have paid and received 7 dry Chicken Alfredo dinners. I’ve never ate at any restaurant, and felt like I didn’t get a resolution we both could agree with. I’m very disappointed and will not be back. Poor customer service and...
Read moreWe've eaten here regularly for 6-8 years. Sadly, except for the waitstaff, the entire experience has declined. Our meals, as recently as 8/13/2015, were disappointing.
Mid-day, there was a table of 6 (talking loud, but not excessive) and a booth with 2 when I arrived. I asked for something quiet. The only large booth has a long tear in the seat. It has not been repaired in a year. They've simply moved it from one side of the table to the other and covered it with a tablecloth.
I asked could we sit in the bar, I've been out of town four days and we'd like to talk in quiet? No, we can only seat people there on the weekends. I chose another booth.
I asked to speak to the manager. My waitress returned saying she'd come "when she had a chance." About 15 minutes later, this woman in a large, saggy t-shirt and pony tail, brought our water and asked if I needed anything. I said, "No, just waiting for my husband to meet me, He's running a little late." I had asked for lime in my water. They were hard and brown. Very unappetizing. Her explanation was, "Mother said, it's not lime season."
Our waitress returned and asked if I'd spoken to the manager. I said she never came. She said the woman who brought our water was her. I told her she never introduced herself & I thought she was another waitress.
My husband arrived. We ordered the antipasto for one to share, grouper and pasta entrees, and a carafe of Chianti, our bill was about $62. We noticed they had charged us a "split" charge for sharing the antipasto. We've "split" the antipasto many times and never charged a split fee of $2.
Their food is fine. Not great, but good. Rock Hill, SC offers little competition. We used to feel like they were a kitschy, 70's era, but quaint little restaurant with better than average food. I can buy fresh, green limes any day at the grocery store. I doubt...
Read moreI really hate writing negative reviews but they are necessary sometimes. This place really let us down tonight. First, we were seated and despite there being plenty of staff, no server came to see us. It was about 9pm and only a few other tables in the place so it wasn't like they were too busy. I tried to catch a few by eye contact to no avail, so after about 15 minutes went and said something. They apologized, got our drinks and brought free breadsticks. No big deal, could be an honest mistake. We placed the food order along with the drinks. Again, very few people in the place. After about 40 minutes the food came out. But they forgot our salads. Took another 10-15 minutes to track down the server for that. By then everyone was sweeping and get ready for closing, so we were asked if we wanted the salads to go. At that point its late and I'm there with kids so its time to leave. Overall just poor service - no so much the server specifically but rather just the whole restaurant and how its run - seems they don't know whose table is whose or have a plan. Also seemed to be overstaffed so many times I'd see 3 or 4 employees in deep conversation all the while struggling to get anyones attention.
The food I'd give a 3/5. The ambiance was nice and cute, 4/5. The organization and service was really poor, 1/5.
I'm sure its not that bad for everyone and I can see that they have 380 other reviews so perhaps tonight was just a miss with us, but I really wanted to like this place when we walked in and they just really swung and missed with us.
Now I'm at home eating the salad I ordered at the table, and also some leftovers from yesterday (different restaurant) as I'm still hungry following...
