Update 06/26/24- After my review a couple days ago I want to add a couple stars because of the general manager Keelen reaching out to me and wanting to “make it right”. I understand mistakes happen and he was definitely sincere in his apology so I’m willing to bring my family in to give them another chance in making it right. I will update my review once more next month when I come back in.
Update 7-24-24 I wanted to update my review, my family of 6 went back to this location to see if things could be made right. Well, about half was right. To start the server we had was awful! She was very slow, wasn’t personable at all and didn’t care about us at all. I ordered an individual size Chicago thick double deckeronni and I couldn’t believe it when I saw it but it definitely over cooked! I didn’t try one piece and definitely didn’t complain since our meal was comped but it’s definitely a bummer they decided that was good enough to bring out of the kitchen and to give that to a customer. I just couldn’t believe it. My wife and kids food came out just fine besides the server not ever coming back to check on us. I mean if that would’ve happened and the server would’ve checked on us I feel everything would’ve went fine. Please do better OC!
6-23-24- Honestly this might have to be the worst review I’ve ever left for a restaurant and that’s saying something. Well, where do I begin? So, tonight I am staying at the Holiday Inn that’s connected to the Old Chicago here in Rock Springs and decided to get take out for dinner. I went on their website and ordered fish and chips and a Chicago 7 calzone minus a couple ingredients. After placing the order it said it would take an hour for it to be ready. I went down and picked up my order and came back to my room just to find I got NO tartar sauce, no cole slaw and no marinara sauce on the side for my 2 meals. Pretty annoyed I walked back down and got my sides that were missing.
So, I come up to my room, had some of my dad’s fish which was good, but then went to my Calzone which was made entirely wrong! So, I ended up calling the restaurant this time instead of going back down there and spoke with the manager Kevin. He said he was sorry and he would remake my calzone in 10 minutes and bring it to my room. He brought it to my room about 10 minutes later and apologized by also giving us 2 sodas as well. Once I opened the box I was grossed out and very irate! The calzone looks NOTHING like an Old Chicago calzone, it smelled burnt, looked burnt and didn’t even try to taste it. Felt like this was a “slap in the face”. My dad had no idea what I was talking about so I showed him many pictures of Old Chicago calzones on their own website and he couldn’t believe it either. After that had happened, called back and couldn’t even talk to a manager this time. Spoke to the lady behind the counter and she could tell how frustrated I was. 30 minutes later she brought up a pizza and by that time I already had lost my appetite.
I’ve been to Old Chicago dozens of times over the years in Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho and I’ve NEVER had something like this happen. The calzone that the manager Kevin said “he was personally going to make and he brought it to my room” just to look like this is an insult. I posted a picture below so you can see what a calzone looks like by a manager who made it and is trying to make things right. Honestly, I will never get a calzone from old Chicago again and very unlikely I will EVER be back in this restaurant again. Please take a look at the picture below and you’ll see what a burnt piece of rubber “calzone” looks like when a manager makes it. He said he would handle it and it wouldn’t take an hour but only 10 minutes and it sure looks like he did.
Do yourself a favor as well and go elsewhere if you’re here in rock springs or more less staying at the...
Read moreThis pizza restaurant is very elegant. It’s like a breath of fresh air, especially from going on a trip in the west parts of America. Keep in mind that the streets are busy with traffic and walking across the street requires skill and effort. Inside the restaurant you will find bright lights, nice shadows, and many strong colors. For my meal, I was starting off with Bavarian pretzel sticks. The Bavarian pretzel sticks are excellent, fine, and savory to respectable texture. It’s one of the best pretzels you can get in America’s west. But for my main meal I was really enjoying myself with their Chicago 7 Stromboli. Consider the Stromboli like it’s a giant pizza sandwich! Very delicious, very savory. My refills of diet cola were helping me for the easy dining experience. There’s a lot of space inside the restaurant. With enough space, I feel more comfortable with the environment after a long trip. The night was a good one for a good dinner. Waiters around the restaurant were pretty friendly and were assistive suggestions of care and help. There are hotels in this area of Wyoming although the streets can be tricky to navigate. The Stromboli was really packed with meat and sauce. It was a crunchy sandwich with a great deal of stuff. The Bavarian pretzel sticks included a rich cheese dip that was convenient for delicate plates. You can’t miss the place! The place is easy to find at night. Most business locations in the area will have glowing lights leading up to Old Chicago Store. The pizza restaurant has a glowing red image. It’s a place that specializes in drinks and finger foods, even if there’s always utensils and easy-going manners. There’s plenty of walking space in the restaurant and it’s close to important options for a road trip. Stromboli really does taste like a pizza. Waffle fries with ranch might as well be separate from the giant pizza sandwich because of the strong ranch flavor and the hot, crispy texture of their own. The pretzel sticks were nice and salty. Everything was looking wonderful on my table. I was feeling quite exhausted from the road trip and I still feel the memory today. The restaurant has a big variety of drinks. I was careful about drinking during the road trip for safety reasons. A lot of people come to this restaurant and that helps with the vibrations of atmosphere and friendly noise. I can’t say enough about this restaurant! It’s a unique location with specific...
Read moreUPDATE: 7/19/21 Took my family. My wife's, mine and my daughter's order were wrong. Like not even the dish we ordered wrong. Then they forgot to make mine so I never got my pizza. We were there for 2 hours. The manager was amazing. You could tell he felt terrible. For so many errors on one order was mind boggling even to him.
UPDATE: I returned today to a whole different experience! I ordered the same thing and an appetizer. My waitress seemed very bubbly and a lot more attentive. After 25 minutes my pizza came out and was hot and delicious.
I don't think ive ever given a one star..... But old Chicago earned it! I received a gift card from my employer and was excited to finally try out old Chicago here in rock springs. I have eaten at other old Chicago's in other states and always had a great experience. I was sat at 12pm sharp. It was not busy with may open tables. I knew exactly what I wanted. I always get the same thing. I ordered a personal size Chicago 7 deep dish!!! Amazing pizza. At around 12:30 I notice other larger parties that had came in after I ordered, getting pizzas and antres before me. But I'm excited I hunker down and continue to wait. At 12:45 the pizza came out. 40 minutes but I was sure it was worth it.... The pizza looked and smelled great. It was precut, I grabbed a fork and took a bite.... As I clamped down I noticed that it was cold..... I immediately removed it from my mouth. Upon closer inspection the cheese was not melted and still in it's colder shreaded form.
The waitress came back and I explained to her my delema about the cold pizza. She quickly offered a new one. I explained to her that I waited 40 minutes for that pizza and I couldn't wait another 40. She politely apologized. I told her I would pay for the salad and the drink. She returned with my ticket and explains she only charged me for the drink.
I asked if the management knew that pizzas we're coming out cold, she responded by saying they were in meetings but she would tell them.
So I paid my ticket, I did tip the waitress because she did spend time waiting on me. But unfortunately I'm not excited to go back and now I have a gift card I don't know...
