I made the mistake of stopping at the Lakeside Hideaway because it looked busy with all of the cars parked outside. In summary: 1. The service was poor. 2. The food was mediocre at best. 3. They surprisingly had a cider on tap.
To start off it took 20 minutes or more to get the waitress to take my order. I almost decided to leave before ordering. The place was moderately busy but not so much that it should have taken so long.
It also took an above average amount of time to get the food brought out. I'm not sure if it was because of the kitchen or the servers.
I believe that I ordered a glass of the Schilling blackberry pear cider. It's not my favorite but it was a cider on tap which surprised me. It seems like quite a few bars have this cider variety on tap in my recent visits. The drink was delivered fairly quickly.
For food, I ordered the southwestern burger. I would probably give it 2 out of 5 stars at best. The bun was some sort of white bread bun that fell apart while eating the burger. The pickled jalapenos and hot sauce were okay but nothing special. The burger also had medium chopped ice berg lettuce on it which left a small salad on the plate because it wouldn't stay in the bun.
I ordered the fries as the side and tartare sauce as my dipping sauce. I thought that because this place served a lot of seafood (fish and chips especially since it was all-you-can-eat night) that they might have a good tartare sauce. The tartare sauce tasted like a sweet jarred version from some major brand at a grocery store. Needless to say I was disappointed. The fries were not bad but it might have been the smallest portion that I have been given at a bar.
I don't know much about the rest of the menu but I probably won't go back to check it out.
Update.
After the inappropriate and rude response that I received from the owner I felt the need to respond. I have had many burgers in my lifetime and I don't/won't eat at McDonald's. If you can't take an honest look at your food then you need to have people give their honest opinion. Maybe you need to broaden your experience and try food outside of your local area. I would be willing to bet that your southwestern burger is below average if you took a poll of 25 or so bars/restaurants. I regret not taking pictures but I think that my descriptions are fairly thorough and accurate. I tried adding photos of other burgers I have enjoyed but the app seems to crash when adding them. I can name a half dozen bars/restaurants off the top of my head in the Seattle area that have much better burgers at the same price point. There are also some in the area that have similar burgers to the one you served and I rate them...
Read moreIf you're considering eating here; don't waste your money. If I could leave zero stars I would. Took a much needed 5 day family vacation and out of all the places we got food from, this was by far the worst food at the highest prices and bad service to boot. The only thing that was any good were the oysters but they were very overpriced. We paid $28 for what looked like a child's size shrimp pasta that tasted like nothing but olive oil and was very watery and greasy, and $13 for an appetizer size Cesar salad PLUS $5 to get maybe 2 ounces of tiny salad shrimp on it. In total we spent about $140 on the aforementioned meals, pizza that was burned, hard, and tasted like cardboard, and a dry, way over done hamburger. When my daughter ordered the hamburger she asked if they could hold the mayo and add pickles, ketchup, and mustard. What she got was completely plain and when she said something to the waitress the waitress was very rude.
Edit: i noticed that the owner or manager left a response to my review. This person's claim that I'm obviously a disgruntled employee is unbelievably ridiculous and just shows their level of concern for customer satisfaction. I've been employed in various positions in the food service and hospitality industry, including everything from hostess and fast food service positions to management and senior chef positions. As a restaurant manager, if i had ever caught any of the waitstaff that performing as poorly as the waitress here i would have immediately rescheduled this person's next couple of shifts to be covered by another employee and slotted this person for retraining. If i had ever caught an employee responding to a customer complaint in the manner that this person responded to my review, they would have been fired on the spot. Let me be very clear here, i have NEVER worked at this restaurant, nor would i want to work anywhere that has such little care for customer satisfaction and responds to customer reviews with such immaturity. I live more than 6 hours away in a different state, and have my whole life. To whoever wrote the response to my review, if you put your focus on learning from reviews and complaints and use what you learn to change and improve your business you'll be far better off in the long run than if you simply choose to sit behind a keyboard and leave snarky and just plain...
Read moreI'll start with the good. The food was decent hence the 2 stars. Otherwise service was terrible. Upon walking in it was pretty busy for the 7 tables they had. The server was walking to a table and did not acknowledge us as we walked in not even a smile or anything. Was helping a table then the phone rang. Excused her self to go answer the phone walking right past us still no acknowledgement. Talked to the person on the phone put them on hold went back to helping the table then finally told us she was going to finish the call and help us. We got seated and when she came for the first time to take our order just asked "what she could get started." We gave 1 of the kids a go ahead to start ordering and he asked if he was ordering a drink or food. At that point we were all ready to order food so he wasn't sure. Her answer was "I just have to put something in" to a kid they don't know what that means. The rest of the order process was borderline rude. We do give grace as our 1 year old was crying because he wanted to run around and we weren't letting him but we can't be the only ones who have this happen. We were close to our hotel and didn't want to have to find another place to go so we stayed but after ordering we contemplated just leaving. For having family restaurant in the name and advertised as a family restaurant it just didn't seem very family friendly( towards young children anyway) no crayons or coloring was offered the server seemed to be more pleasant with other tables( we were the only ones with young children which 3 of the 4 were being good) Not sure coloring would have helped the crying kid but it might have but the other 3 would have loved it. Disappointed for sure. Also it may be just how the machine is not something that can be changed but when paying the auto tip options were 18, 19, and 20%. Usually it's 10, 15 and 20% after the rest of the experience it's just a little off putting that it's assumed your getting top percentage even though service was not good. We come to the beach alot and most likely...
