Trash & Treasures — Local services in Rockaway Beach

I just tried shopping here and the employee was extremely rude. I walked in with my dog and another customer’s dog started growling and barking at us. My dog is not reactive so I was about to quickly step into another aisle to give them space. The lady at the counter started yelling at me to pick up my dog because “there can’t be two dogs down on the floor at the same time.” Why should I be expected to shop with my 30 lb dog in my arms because another dog is acting out? And why does no other gift shop in town seem to have a problem with multiple dogs in the store? I ended up leaving and spending my money elsewhere. We had a great experience at Flamingo Jims so if you’re traveling with a pet or just want nice customer service, I recommend shopping...

One star for awful hospitality. I had just entered the doors and I had my dog with me and they said if another dog came in that I would have to leave or carry my 40lb dog around… I said what? That doesn’t make sense. They have a one dog rule, but if I was there first then someone else should wait, I shouldn’t have to put down what I was doing to appease someone else. I immediately left and said I would gladly take my money elsewhere if that’s the rule… they then tried to get me to come back in, this is a good way to lose business. I still walked out. I went down to a different store who gladly welcomed my pup who sits if I stop walking, will lay if I’m stood too long and leave others alone...

We visited “Trash & Treasures” twice during our trip to Rockaway Beach! They had a rare collection of plates we’ve been searching for, and the prices were actually lower than what we found online. The owner was incredibly friendly and told us he intentionally prices collectibles below online listings, which is smart and makes it a win-win for everyone.
