UPDATE! Came back by on our last day here. So glad we did. We tried the savory handpies. AMAZING! Of course we also left with another sand dollar raspberry hand pie and a cheese danish. @@@ No trip to anywhere is complete unless you try a local bakery. We are so glad we stopped in here. Let me tell you what I know about a good bakery. If you wait until 1pm to go in the selection will be limited. We grabbed 2 peanut butter cookies, 2 lemon handpies, 1 raspberry handpie, 1 chocolate handpie, and a blackberry scone. The peanut butter cookie was soft and flavorful. Not hard and crunchy. The lemon handpie was phenomenal. The crust was perfectly thin, buttery and had a slight crispness to it. The lemon filling had that tart lemon flavor with a touch of sweet. My daughter loved the chocolate handpie. The rest will wait until later. Certainly put this place in your list.

I ordered a bunch of pies and pastries to try. I have: ham & sausage pies - warm, delicious with generous fillings Bear claw, lemon & cream cheese danishes, mixed berries and chocolate sand dollars, and marionberry scone - all very yummy 😋 When I walked in, there was only a pair of customers. Soon after, there was a long time after me. The overall service and atmosphere were alright. Everyone seemed to be friendly except one. When I asked her what was the pastry she was holding as label on the shelf was not visible, she gave me a look I didn't quite like. Fortunately she was not helping me to get my order, otherwise I would have walked out in an instant.

Such a gem of a Bakeshop in Rockaway Beach! The shop itself is smaller and unassuming but this place packs a punch, and the staff is friendly and efficient. We stopped by for a morning coffee and baked goodies. The Blueberry Buttermilk Biscuit was probably the best blueberry biscuit we’ve ever had, it was light, crisp, fluffy, flavorful and sweet but not overly sweet. The Bacon Cheese Biscuit was fabulous as well. We ended up going back for more the same day and the next morning and ate probably 9 biscuits between 2 ppl haha, it was that good! The Savory Breakfast Hand Pie was also delicious! Glad we found this spot and will be back!

Wanted to like this shop, but... seemingly inexperienced staff lacked even a hint of customer service & competence. Problem solving skills were remiss to say the least. Half of the food case was empty, the cookies were "...not soft, actually pretty crunchy..." but she "..has never had any of cookies personally.." so she didnt know. Then I was told they could not add cream cheese frosting to a cinnamon rol even if they had any, to which I pointed out they must have made some recently due to the very small amount they put atop their small $5.00 carrot cake muffins.. so I asked if I could purchase a small side container of the frosting, one girl said "no, she wouldn't be able to do that" and the other said "No, we probably don't have any". Even after that I went to pay, asked if I could buy a cup of milk to-go (since I noticed they seemed to be a semi-functioning espresso shop with gallons of milk, cups/lids galore, and a "barista") and she pointed at a drink cooler across the room and said my only option was to buy a little kids-sized bottle of milk. Then when I tried to pay, I realized I only had a $50 bill so I asked if she could break it on my $10/2-item order, she cracked the till (that was 2/3 full of $20's, $10's, $5's & $1's) and said "Nope". So I had to leave empty handed after all of the bs. First & last time at this rude,...

Fresh Delectable Perfection - Made from Scratch - Quintessential Beach Bakeshop. Going to the Beach Bakeshop in Rockaway resulted in the most valuable treasure found at the beach. The owners at "The Beach Bakeshop" take pride in their fresh made from scratch pastries. Making a decision on one was impossible, so we ended up wanting one of each. We ended with a Butter Crust filled egg, cheese and bacon pastry which was absolutely incredible- flakey and full of flavor. The Cinnamon Rolls were unlike any we had ever eaten before. They have a thinner less dense dough which adds more layers of cinnamon filling in each tender bite. The fruit filled pastries are delicious flakey and filled with cream cheese strawberry, cherry, apple, or raspberry. The star of our breakfast was the Cheddar, Bacon Biscuits. Perfect addition to the omelette I made from our Silver Sands Hotel Room (see my review for them). I hope The Beach Bakeshop stays around for decades to come. The owners are a delight to talk with or enjoy your sweets while watching the large TV. This is definitely our favorite place to eat in town. Next time you are in Rockaway or Garabaldi come enjoy a delicious pastry and espresso at their large kitchen table, (free wifi available). Your tastebuds...
