Ok! So this was my first trip here and I’ll be back for sure. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich because it was quite simple and balanced, my fiancé got more of a lunch type sandwich and his was unfortunately more on the “sloppy” side. He said everything tasted good but the proportions were off like for example although he thought the mustard was delicious there was just an absurd amount of it.
Ordering as a first time customer was a bit confusing but not unmanageable- there’s a single line for all goods whether that’s coffee food etc. but if I understand correctly if you want coffee by the pound the woman behind that counter will ask you if that’s what you need and then serve you but I believe you would still pay at the front.
They were really busy which I was happy for them!! A lot of restaurants are struggling right now and I didn’t have any issues with waiting and supporting a local shop.
I do think that adding some very clear signage would be helpful to direct the flow of traffic and help people understand how their system works OR if employees were directing patrons. The staff at the main counter were young which again isn’t an issue but to me it felt like maybe they need a bit more training in crowd control and customer service. For example again - when I ordered my fiancés sandwich the employee taking my order seemed confused about what I was asking for so I pulled the menu up on my phone again to be sure I asked for the right thing and started reading off the ingredients but I didn’t get a response just kind of a blank stare until I asked if we were understanding each other after several moments of just looking at one another. No big deal, people have off days or moments during rushes but reading some other reviews and watching how the different people at the desk interacted with customers this is my opinion - a little training touch up could go a very long way to smoothing out wrinkles.
One other suggestion that might work really well for this sort of set up would be having an employee with an iPad taking orders of the people waiting in line. Tickets could be rung to the kitchen and when patrons reach the front they could pay for their food and or any items they have in hand. Just an idea but not sure if that’s something they could make happen but something similar could really streamline their process and reduce confusion :)
Over all we’re happy to have a place like this in our community and in the tough climate of today’s service industry I hope they can continue to stand the...
Read moreI have been a customer of Herman's Boy for years and when it came time to order bulk coffee for my daughter's wedding shower, they were my first thought. I truly regret my decision. I ordered a large container of coffee. When I went to pick it up, I was not aware that the container would be so large so I opened it to see if the coffee was in it and one of the staff members secured the lid back on for me. The container was SO heavy, I struggled to get it out of the building and to my car. No one on the staff offered to help. Luckily a nice gentleman in the parking lot saw me struggling and helped me. While I was struggling, hot coffee was spilling all over my legs and my dress. My legs have burn marks from the coffee. When I returned the container today and tried to quietly explain my concerns about not being helped yesterday and that I burnt my legs on their coffee, I was aggressively told that I hadn't secured the lid correctly and that I should have asked for help. To the man who asked a middle-aged woman who just explained that the hot coffee burnt my legs and ruined my dress, SHAME ON YOU for blaming me!!! I hope you would want someone to treat your loved ones better. I do not recommend anyone rent this piece of equipment from them and to the owner of Herman's Boy, train you staff on...
Read moreHerman's boy really saved the day for us this weekend after I volunteered to bring a key lime pie to a reunion intending to purchase one from Costco, and Costco ran out. We strolled into Herman's boy expecting some coffees and treats, and my spirits were lifted when I saw the key lime pies! Of course we bought one and it was delicious. Such a life/time saver for our weekend. And, the bagels we bought were delicious as well. The only reason I'm not giving 5stars is some of the comments made by the young ladies running the register. I'm sure they'd had quite a day by the time we got in, 20 minutes before close. That's to be expected and I would not be expecting beginning of the day energy from any mere human customer service worker at that time. However, when we are being told repeatedly about how "what a day, what a bad day" it had been while we're quietly checking out, it's just unprofessional. Talk about the day's hardships amongst yourselves, don't make customers, especially whom are not regulars, feel bad for you and feel bad we are shopping. I would have ordered a coffee, but the poor things seemed as though they'd absolutely had it, and I got the impression that everything had been cleaned for close already. Other times I have been here I would...
