El Kaypi — Restaurant in Rockville

It is mediocre at best for Peruvian food. Authentic Peruvian food that is cooked right can be the beat experience of your life. El Kaypi cuts corners with there Ceviche Mixto by using a frozen bag of phoney seafood mix that consist of pre-frozen baby squid, imitation crab meat, imitation shrimp. The bag of quick seafood pieces, is added to there Ceviche Mixto and compromises the Ceviche taste. The fact the charge high price for fake Ceviche makes me wonder what else they will cut corners on, food safety and service?. The fish was still raw in some bites of Ceviche a dish I would never order again. I always order the Lomo Saltado. Sauted beef with French fries,Tomatoes and Onion, there were more onions than meat pieces. Priced High, why cheat the customer out of the best part of this dish which is the meat. The onion and fries or plentiful but in El Kaypi used to mask the fact that they will not give you what you are paying for which is the meat. The Arrroz Chalfa (combination Fried Rice Peruvian style. Was a 2 on a scale of 1-5 again a dish that should be teaming with meats was missing much of it. Predominantly a rice dish if you like a plate of rice with hardly any meat this is the dish for you. El Kaypi left a $109.00 dent in my wallet and a bad taste in my mouth. This is not a Peruvian style Restaurant I can say I am proud...

honestly if i could give 0 stars i would i ordered the chaufa and asked for no onion’s because i’m allergic which i told them and they still put onions on it when i told the the lady there got angry at me and told me that she told the kitchen so i asked if they could remake it which she did not like but did anyway she told me it would take 15 min so i went to stay in my car when i return she made we wait another 10 minutes and she gave it to me at first it seemed ok but as i returned home and opened i realized all she did was take the onion off the top where i could see it she didn’t ask for the kitchen to make me a new she gave me the same one and made me wait and paid for it for over 40 minutes would not recommend going there and it’s not my first time i’m a frequent customer there and that fact that she got mad at me when it wasn’t my fault and made me wait just for her to me the same wrong order is mess up do better please and talk with your staff because they will ruin your business if they treat your customers as idiot’s because that is how she made...

I've only been once, but I was very disappointed. I decided to try the family meal #1 with my girlfriend. It comes with an entire rotisserie chicken and four sides. We chose fried yucca, beans, fried rice, and coleslaw. The fried rice was incredible - much better than Don Pollo's across the street. The coleslaw was the best I've ever had in that style. The yucca fries were slightly better than Don Pollo's; absolutely wonderful. The beans were bland and overcooked red beans, terrible. Unfortunately the main course, the chicken, was awful too. It was under-seasoned, incredibly greasy (not in a tasty way), much of it was rubbery, and just kind of bland. Don Pollo's across the street absolutely blows it away. Even cheap grocery store rotisserie chicken is better. If I had to guess, the chicken is likely the cheapest unhealthiest kind you can get.
