I went to Twinbrook Deli around 4 PM. I ordered two regular cold cuts, one I added turkey too, then myself I got a large club - RB, Ham, Turkey. All the subs were customized with toppings. The bread was horrible. By the time I got 20 min to Olney is was mush. Meat falling through. I was also surprised to see that they donât slice their own meat fresh to order. They pulled my meat out of a giant plate, one for turkey, ham, and RB. Each plate had tons of sliced meat, separated by wax paper. None was sliced fresh for subs. (Sorry but Jersey mikes can do it, I expect a full deli to be able to handle it).. as they put my meat on the sub, I watched them pull back the soggy wax paper. The taste of the meat and sub was ok. But nothing like I expected. I spent $37 for the 3 subs, and they were all decent size, so fairly priced. After I paid though, I went back and asked for a side of oil and vinegar.. this place uses what I would describe as italian dressing as their oil and vinegar. Which actually was decent. But when I went back and asked for one side, after ordering 3 subs, one being a large.. they made a stink about me owing 50 cents for it. If you grew up eating at this place , then Iâm sure it will bring back memories. But Jersey mikes makes better subs and itâs not even close . They did have a nice beer selection. Overall I would say between 2-3*. I gave it two because I was disappointed after reading so many positive reviews. Itâs possible new staff are affecting...
Read moreThe guy at the front is extremely rude. I asked about the charge of a particular cheese(that the lady asked if I want when I ordered) I was unaware that there was a charge of $1 extra for provolone. All I said was that I didnât know you guys charge $1 for cheese. His response was âItâs not my job to read the menu for you because itâs on the menuâ like why the hell would you make that comment to a customer. I didnât have any left attitude or anything until this moment. I asked him why was he speaking to me like that he talking about âwell Iâm telling the truthâ. I had already handed him my money to pay and as he gave me my change he acted as if he was gonna put it in my hand then threw it on the counter. Thatâs so disrespectful especially when I handed him my money in his hand. He needs to be dealt with because that is beyond rude. He then threatened to call the police on me. All I asked him was what if I threw my money back at you since you treated me like that. I WILL NOT EVER RETURN AND ILL BE LETTING EVERYONE KNOW NOT TOO EITHER
I then tried to call and let him know that I will be returning for my full refund. He informed me that I wonât get anything back because the food is good and he had great customer service. Ummm sir I never said the food would have been bad I even gave the food 5 starts because it has always been good but his customer service is COMPLETE TRASH AND...
Read moreI dig this place. Love the sandwiches. They recently expanded, too, so there's plenty of room to move around. Before, it was a little claustrophobic going in there (but worth it for the sandwiches).
Staff has always been friendly and polite. Great selection of wine and beer.
Some tips, and this is solely based on my own taste, so take it or leave it:
I usually get the Godfather. It's a great sandwich, and it's packed with meat. But a few of the other sandwiches I've tried (like the Italian) are pretty good, too.
I order mine with no salt ('cause deli meat is loaded with enough salt to begin with), no mayo (not a fan), and no hot peppers (I'm from New Jersey, where they don't put hot peppers on a sandwich unless you ask. Not sure why every place I go to in MD wants to put hot peppers on a sub...is it a regional thing? Anyway...).
No salt, no mayo, no hot peppers.
Final tip: Ask them to go light on the dressing. Depending on who's making the sandwiches, sometimes you get a good (i.e. the right) amount, and sometimes the person squirts it on like it's water and they're trying to put out a fire. I like the dressing, but too much can overpower the taste of the sandwich and leave you with a soggy mess. Tell them "light on the dressing." You'll thank me later.
The sandwiches cost about the same, maybe slightly more, than Subway...and they taste a whole...
