Tucked away on White Hills Drive, Amaya’s Taqueria in Rockwall is a hidden gem for authentic Mexican comfort food. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the inviting aroma of fresh tortillas and sizzling meats. Their torta offerings alone are worth the visit — especially the Cuban Torta, a flavor-packed masterpiece layered with tender roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and a drizzle of creamy sauce, all nestled in a fluffy, toasted bun. Each bite delivers a perfect balance of savory, tangy, and rich textures.
But don’t stop there — the street tacos are another standout. Whether you choose chicken fajita, beef fajita, or al pastor, each taco arrives on warm corn tortillas with bright bursts of cilantro, diced onion, and a squeeze of lime. They are ideal for mixing flavors and savoring multiple tacos without overwhelming your appetite .
The menu also includes tempting appetizers like nachos and papas, as well as heartier plates — but the true stars are the tortas and tacos. With friendly service, an upbeat “taqueria vibe,” and consistently fresh preparation, Amaya’s delivers an experience that keeps locals coming back .
In a city full of Tex‑Mex options, Amaya’s stands out for its Cuban Torta alone — but the street tacos shine just as brightly. It’s a must‑visit for anyone craving real‑deal Mexican flavors in Rockwall. Highly...

We had dinner at the newly opened Amaya Taqueria in Rockwall, and y’all… it’s a must-try! 👏
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service was on point, and the food? Absolutely delicious.
🌮 I had the suizas enchiladas and my guy ordered the tacos de lengua—both packed with bold, authentic flavor. The chips and salsa? Fresh, crisp, and full of flavor. 😋 💵 Prices are reasonable, portions are generous, and there was a steady flow of happy diners the whole time we were there—which is always a good sign!
I already spotted a few dishes I want to come back and try. Safe to say, Amaya Taqueria is officially in our Rockwall foodie rotation.

Read moreThe food was good at Amaya's but the service was not. The staff was friendly. However, the wait staff left a lot to be desired. Drinks were never refilled. Chips and salsa not restocked. I ordered the caldo de res (beef spoup). Someone else at my table did as well. After ordering, 20 minutes later the wait staff said they could only do one caldo de res. So we ordered something else. Then one caldo was delivered. 5 minutes later a different waiter brought out another, even though we're told they could only do one. Very confusing. The wait staff looked lost and confused as well. Again, the people were friendly, but just not real confident or competent on...
