I stopped in because I was staying nearby and hungry for some lunch. Tacos peaked my interest when I scanned the nearby food choices as I really like tacos and Mexican food over a nasty Burger King burger. I looked at their menu online and after looking at it...hiked my tail across the street in a beeline for this place. It was more than I expected, as most tacos are usually smaller and I can eat several in one sitting. Not knowing just how well sized they are and toppings added, I ordered the Republican, the Queso and chips, and a secret menu item called the Ace of Spades. Had a seat and the waitress brought out my chips and Queso right away and snacked on them until my tacos arrived. The Queso is spot on and absolutely delicious, the chips were light and crunchy with just a hint of salt I think. I ate the AOS with happiness as it wasn't overly hot at all, just a tinge of heat...ate the whole thing comfortably without even needing a drink. It was loaded with all the fixings you could ask for and realistically, is a meal all by itself. Then I had the Republican, another tasty taco with fixings piled high. I don't think I can recommend a taco place enough if you're in the mood for tacos. There's also a bar as well if you would like to have an adult beverage too. Plenty of seating, clean and kid friendly. Booths are large and comfortable, especially if you're a bigger person or have multiple people in your group. I will definitely be making this a regular pit stop in the future. High Fives to the cooks and staff here...great food and awesome service. This place is great, don't pay any attention to the negative reviews. If you look at the people who leave negative reviews, you'll see most of their reviews are nothing more than complaining if they have any review history at all. Can problems arise? Absolutely..but be a decent human being and bring it to the business's attention while there, not online with no reason for your complaints.

This was our first visit to Torchy’s and it was the BEST!!! The young man at the register last night (can’t remember his name was so helpful and friendly). He was so patient with me and my husband as we navigated the huge menu of foods not knowing what we wanted, so he so graciously offered us some good food choices. We dined in and the atmosphere was so cool and welcoming. I struck up a conversation with this sweet lady Miss Maria who was so kind and I told her this was my first visit to Torchy’s so she told me to give her a minute she would be right back. She went and got the manager and he came out and spoke with me and my husband about how our visit was going, the history of Torchy’s, and just chatted a bit about the food. I can’t remember the managers name, I think it was Danny (not sure) because we were talking about so many things. He was a very courteous, down to earth, and professional guy. We were then served our Grande Burritos and let me tell you… they were amazing!!I had the barbacoa burrito , my husband had the brisket burrito, and my grandson had the steak burrito. Also, the sweet tea was soooo good! They were all delicious!! I also noticed the bar there, which when we return I will have one of those margaritas. We had a Damn Good meal!!!

My wife and I have been coming to Torchy's since they first came up to the Dallas area from Austin. Since day one we were hooked. Since the pandemic started our offices has been closed as we are working from home now. The closest Torchy's from our house is about an hour away. So we haven't been to a Torchy's in over two years. So we found out that they were putting in a location in Rockwall, we were elated. We knew that first week was going to be crazy, so we avoided opening week. But we stopped by the week after. The wait wasn't too bad. But it was still packed. But it went pretty quick. The woman working the door was really nice and pleasant as was the the person taking the order. We get what we knew we wanted, so the time at the register went pretty quickly as well. My only issue was the didn't have the taco of the month and they didn't have the refried black beans. When we ordered the exact reason was " we just opened, so we don't have them yet". I get it and the young woman behind the register was very sympathetic. We proceed to our table and our food was to us in less than five minutes. We were so impressed with everything that we came back the next day. Great food, great service, highly recommended.

Their queso used to be the best. I don't know if it's just this location or all of them, and I can't put my finger on it, but now it is worse. It's thicker, at least, Torchy's used to have amazing queso that was very thin/runny. I'll still go, but I wish they didn't change that. The locations around Austin used to be open earlier for breakfast when I went, but I guess people in Rockwall don't eat breakfast bc neither this location nor Taco Bell in Rockwall is open early enough to grab food on the way to work.

EDIT: Since I last visited this review, Torchy's has slowly gotten a bit worse. It's how these things happen, incrementally. First management changes. Then some ingredients change (see queso above). Then some items are removed, like the nookies. Then item quantities are cut back, like chips. Then waitstaff dry up, when you used to have a staff member come by your table 1-2 times a sitting to check on your food, now they unceremoniously drop off a handful of chips and noticeably worse queso and you're left to fend for yourself. Small things like that add up over time before this chain is re-sold to a hungrier and dirtier private equity firm and things get worse faster. I know because it's what happened with Olive Garden, IHOP, On the Border, ChuckECheese, etc. It's how we feed pigs in the meat industry. The first pigs get premium feed, next level get feed and some feces from the top level. Next level gets more feces, etc. We've moved Torchy's from level 1 to 2, and I give it about a decade before this chain is as bad as IHOP.

TLDR: nothing changes for the better, nothing good in life lasts, everything and yourself slowly seem to die and get worse and worse as time goes by. Only the young die happy, before the corruption and sin of the world wear your heart down into dispassionate welcome of...

First time I came here I had a terrible interaction with the bartender. Her name is Regan and she's probably one of the worst bartenders I've ever had the pleasure of being served by. She's extremely rude and has the attitude of a 15 year old girl. I've worked in the service industry half my life and was taken back how awful she was at customer service. I have no idea why they would even think she's fit for being at the bar which is pretty much the face of the restaurant.

This is my second time coming here and my wife loves the frozen margarita's so she has me grab one for her on the way home from work. Regan was unfortunately bartending tonight and I had just worked a 15 hour shift. So of course the last thing I wanted was to deal with someone like her. Nonetheless I had no choice and figured I give her another chance. I was hoping she would be in a better mood then last time but I was extremely mistaken. She immediately gave me attitude and was talking to me like I was a child. I almost felt the urge to call her out on her complete lack of customer service but I was so tired from the day I took upon myself to file a complaint with the manager Ana. She said she would look into it as soon as possible.

I suggest you demote this child back to the dishwasher or food line coming from someone who's managed in food service she needs to be in another profession that doesn't involve any customer interaction whatsoever.

By the way everyone else that works their has been extremely polite and wonderful to us.

Except...
