I went with 6 friends to do Budapest Express, we were out celebrating birthdays for 2 of them. The first room was well done, but the next 2 were very bland. The clues were obscure and not easy to connect. We used 2 clues, I think, and managed to get out with just over 20 minutes left. 2 days later I receive an email from Escapology saying that it was too bad we didn't escape, but to come back again. Wait, what?! I looked at their leaderboard, and we should be in first place, and yet they're saying we didn't escape?! I have sent them two emails asking for this to be fixed and have received ZERO response. The poor kids running the rooms don't have much clue as to what's going on, the puzzles were a little obtuse at times, they had to come in mid-game to reset puzzles while the clock was still running causing us to stand there waiting, and then they can't be bothered to email me back? I will not be going back to do their other rooms, and we are escape room addicts, we've done over 20 now. This place was my least favorite, by far. Most of my frustration is how it was run; the room wasn't terrible, just clearly needs to be reworked a little. The poor kid that came in when we were done couldn't answer most of our questions about the room. And, to top it off, we should have first place and they say we didn't escape - I even have a picture of the countdown clock to prove our time. That's just adding insult to injury.

Escapology is an AWESOME family bonding experience! I love when we all get our chance to work together, put our heads together, and just have pure fun. The puzzles are clever, the atmosphere is exciting, and every moment feels like we’re part of our own little adventure. The customer service here is phenomenal—the staff truly encourage teamwork, offer just the right amount of help when needed, and genuinely celebrate our success in figuring out the problems as much as we do. This is the kind of place where memories are made, laughs are shared, and you walk out feeling closer than ever. Thank you Chance at the escapology in Rockwall inside the Shenanigans!!!

My husband, our 11-year-old daughter, and I had a blast doing this room! It was just hard enough that none of us were bored but not so hard that we couldn’t do it. Alright we used one hint 😉 Place was super clean and well-maintained and the employees were nice and knowledgeable. Just a heads up it is actually INSIDE Shenanigans near the bowling lanes. Can’t wait to do another room here soon!

There were several issues.

  1. Per the staff, if you purchased your voucher/tickets through Groupon they are not valid.

  2. We were a group or 8 which only "the lost city" and "under pressure" (their biggest rooms) can accommodate. We selected the lost city and immediately upon entering the room instantly regretted paying $35 a person (+tax). The room was EXTREMELY small! WARNING to those who are claustrophobic!! It was so tight, hot, and sticky. Very uncomfortable, easily frustrating and at times difficult to breathe.

The lost city starts off in 1 room that leads to a 2nd room, that will then lead to the 3rd and final room of the game.

The 1st room again was very small and crowded, but the 8 players had a little room to walk in between each other and move around a LITTLE BIT.

The 2nd room was even smaller so that only 5 people out of the 8 players in our group could play due to lack of space. The remaining 3 people had to find a time-out corner to stand at to get out of the way and were unable to play.

The 3rd and final room you guessed it gets even smaller! Only 3 people Max can fit in the room in a line. So that means 5 players cannot play. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Being charged the same price as many other escape room business to get half to less the service/play area doesn't add up and cannot be justifiable to anyone with common sense.

  1. This issue cost us drastic play time! The 1st room had a chest with a arrow direction slide combination lock. Our group easily and quickly found the solution to open the lock. The lock was faulty! We easily lost 25 minutes easy trying to open the lock. We called the assistant she came in the room (which takes away the excitement from the game) she tried to open the lock 4/5 times and was unable. We had to continue waiting until She went to go call and get another co-worker who later came in and tried to open the lock. He too struggled but was able to finally open it on his 4th attempt. We had the correct answer 20 minutes prior and by the end of it all 30 minutes wasted play time that we paid for and LOST. The staff said IF they could they would give us some time back but it would depend if they had another scheduled booking for that room after us. They gave us 5 minutes. What a Rip off!

If we would have been charged $15 maybe even $20 (MAX) then I would feel a little eeehhh better cause I understand you get what you pay for. But to spend $150 for my family of 4 ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! That's not including the four other friends that came with us 5 of which this was their first escape room experience. What a way to ruin it!

I would NOT recommend this place.

And all the company says in response to the honest bad reviews is I'm sorry give us a call. Why not actually do something about it by reaching out and fix this with your guest ya'll do...

I have done over 30 escape rooms and this was one of my worst experiences. We arrived before our allotted time with all of our waiver prefilled and the game host barely greeted us besides asking us if we wanted to purchase some beverages. There was no asking us if we have done rooms before, checking for restroom usage, background into the room or anything. The host showed us our room and the into video was already playing. While it was playing she was talking over the video to explain a couple ground rules. By the time she left the video was already finished and we did not get to hear the back story or the background behind the room.

While we were doing the room, the game master was spewing hints without us asking ruining the fun. What I also noticed was how sparsely decorated and bland the additional rooms of the mansion murder was. They have very worn components including a family tree that you can not READ THE CRUCIAL DETAILS so the puzzle was unsolvable. To top it off the Game Master was very bored and uninspired and it took away from our experience.

Bad experience, Room was in Rough shape, Storyline was not there, Game Master probably should not be working at an escape room; I am not sure where all these high reviews came from. This is my first experience with Escapology after trying many other chains and local spots (ie The Escape Game, PanIQ, Red Door, Quest Room, Breakout, etc) and unfortunately I am left unsatisfied. Hopefully other locations are better, but I can’t say for sure. Would recommend driving out of Rockwall to play other companies based off of...

I see so many good reviews, and had such high hopes for Escapology in Rockwall. Sadly, we were disappointed. We figured out the code to unlock a padlock, but it wouldn't open. This made us second guess all we did to get the code, and we ended up wasting over 15 minutes trying to figure it out. Called for a hint and host said our code was correct, then disappeared. Tried over and over but the lock wasn't budging. Employee came in, put in the code and jerked hard on the lock. It opened, and he gave us a smug look. Apparently, it was wearing out and needed force to open. I told him the rules said not to use excessive force on anything. He ignored me and left the room. A tile was missing from a bag of clues. It wasn't hard to figure out what the missing tile had on it, so whatever. Lastly, when we entered another room, a box on the wall was open. We accidentally let it shut and it locked before we got stuff out of it. Again, spent time trying to reopen it, thinking it was supposed to be open already. Time ran out and we felt like we were cheated out of over 20 minutes of time because their equipment and setup were faulty. I told the host this but he ignored me and didn't even acknowledge it was their issue. I was upset since this was a birthday gift for me, and it was my husband's first escape room. I give 2 stars because the storyline, decor and the few puzzles we did were ok. Unfortunately, terrible customer service, faulty equipment and a poor reset job...
