There were several issues.
Per the staff, if you purchased your voucher/tickets through Groupon they are not valid.
We were a group or 8 which only "the lost city" and "under pressure" (their biggest rooms) can accommodate. We selected the lost city and immediately upon entering the room instantly regretted paying $35 a person (+tax). The room was EXTREMELY small! WARNING to those who are claustrophobic!! It was so tight, hot, and sticky. Very uncomfortable, easily frustrating and at times difficult to breathe.
The lost city starts off in 1 room that leads to a 2nd room, that will then lead to the 3rd and final room of the game.
The 1st room again was very small and crowded, but the 8 players had a little room to walk in between each other and move around a LITTLE BIT.
The 2nd room was even smaller so that only 5 people out of the 8 players in our group could play due to lack of space. The remaining 3 people had to find a time-out corner to stand at to get out of the way and were unable to play.
The 3rd and final room you guessed it gets even smaller! Only 3 people Max can fit in the room in a line. So that means 5 players cannot play. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Being charged the same price as many other escape room business to get half to less the service/play area doesn't add up and cannot be justifiable to anyone with common sense.
If we would have been charged $15 maybe even $20 (MAX) then I would feel a little eeehhh better cause I understand you get what you pay for. But to spend $150 for my family of 4 ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! That's not including the four other friends that came with us 5 of which this was their first escape room experience. What a way to ruin it!
I would NOT recommend this place.
And all the company says in response to the honest bad reviews is I'm sorry give us a call. Why not actually do something about it by reaching out and fix this with your guest ya'll do...
Read moreI have done over 30 escape rooms and this was one of my worst experiences. We arrived before our allotted time with all of our waiver prefilled and the game host barely greeted us besides asking us if we wanted to purchase some beverages. There was no asking us if we have done rooms before, checking for restroom usage, background into the room or anything. The host showed us our room and the into video was already playing. While it was playing she was talking over the video to explain a couple ground rules. By the time she left the video was already finished and we did not get to hear the back story or the background behind the room.
While we were doing the room, the game master was spewing hints without us asking ruining the fun. What I also noticed was how sparsely decorated and bland the additional rooms of the mansion murder was. They have very worn components including a family tree that you can not READ THE CRUCIAL DETAILS so the puzzle was unsolvable. To top it off the Game Master was very bored and uninspired and it took away from our experience.
Bad experience, Room was in Rough shape, Storyline was not there, Game Master probably should not be working at an escape room; I am not sure where all these high reviews came from. This is my first experience with Escapology after trying many other chains and local spots (ie The Escape Game, PanIQ, Red Door, Quest Room, Breakout, etc) and unfortunately I am left unsatisfied. Hopefully other locations are better, but I can’t say for sure. Would recommend driving out of Rockwall to play other companies based off of...
Read moreI see so many good reviews, and had such high hopes for Escapology in Rockwall. Sadly, we were disappointed. We figured out the code to unlock a padlock, but it wouldn't open. This made us second guess all we did to get the code, and we ended up wasting over 15 minutes trying to figure it out. Called for a hint and host said our code was correct, then disappeared. Tried over and over but the lock wasn't budging. Employee came in, put in the code and jerked hard on the lock. It opened, and he gave us a smug look. Apparently, it was wearing out and needed force to open. I told him the rules said not to use excessive force on anything. He ignored me and left the room. A tile was missing from a bag of clues. It wasn't hard to figure out what the missing tile had on it, so whatever. Lastly, when we entered another room, a box on the wall was open. We accidentally let it shut and it locked before we got stuff out of it. Again, spent time trying to reopen it, thinking it was supposed to be open already. Time ran out and we felt like we were cheated out of over 20 minutes of time because their equipment and setup were faulty. I told the host this but he ignored me and didn't even acknowledge it was their issue. I was upset since this was a birthday gift for me, and it was my husband's first escape room. I give 2 stars because the storyline, decor and the few puzzles we did were ok. Unfortunately, terrible customer service, faulty equipment and a poor reset job...
