Was excited to go but didn't live up to expectations at all.
$9 for a veggie burger combo with two pickles and a smear of mayo (=dry). Seems like they use the Morning Star black bean burgers. You can get a pack of those (4 per pack) from any grocery store for $4~5. It is usually the case with vegetarian and vegan food when eating out- it costs more. I feel like meat eaters should be disturbed that food made from plants you water costs more than raising and murdering an entire animals.
I was most excited for the custard. The way its described, i was a thinking a texture similar to gelato. Hell no. It's just soft serve. It's really just softserve. Even the "concrete". I would call a Cookout shake concrete compared to the pitiful milk puddle we were given here. I ordered the Hawaiian concrete. It came with the saltiest of PEANUTS not macadamia nuts so the top of the ice cream was salty and inedible (put a good dump of salt on top of strawberries, pineapple, sweetened coconut flakes and vanilla soft serve. Did you gag just thinking of it? There you have it) . From the time they caled out my order my order, I got it from the counter and back to the table, my "concrete" was over half melted.
$17 for a veggie burger combo and an hotdog combo for my dad. $14 for the concrete, a custard and a pint of custard. $31 for my dad and i to have a very very basic blasé lunch from a fast food burger joint.
Then the ambiance of orders being shouted inside and over the drive thru, then loud obnoxius music playing too. Since it was cold inside we went out side for some quiet but the way they have the social distanceing you have to sit on the outer peremeter right by the drive...
Read moreBurgers, Chicken, Cheese Curds, Music, Frozen Custard, Attentive Staff, Comfortable Seating, Plenty of Parking, Single Use Bathrooms (Hey, it's important)... One word, fast food 'ZEN'. Maybe 3 words, numbers are irrelevant for this review 🤷♂️.To begin, this was the FIRST time Freddy's has fallen on my radar. OMG, I could eat a literal bushel of their Cheese Curds with the provided Marinara sauce. As all first timers, I over indulged with a burger, chili cheese hot dog, cheese curds, a LARGE (hot fudge) sundae and a LARGE pepsi. Worth every bit of abdominal discomfort after the feast. To start, the burger meat is chopped steak, which has been: compressed, seasoned and flat top grilled into a thin, crispy edged patty with every bite revealing the sweet, marbelized texture of the steak it was created from. The buns: soft, warm, pillowy, buttered, flat top grilled and providing the perfect vehicle to carry the meat and toppings to your gullet. And, speaking of toppings: the Bacon: crispy edged, soft (not chewy), with a hint of hickory. Hot dogs have a good 'snap' to them and the beanless chili with melted shredded cheese on a toasted, buttery bun is the perfect compliment to any buger. Finishing out the meal, is a velvety, frozen custard dessert seved in a bowl, waffle cone or as a concrete in either Vanilla, Cbocolate or Swirl. With enough topping combinations to satiate any discerning palate. DO NOT miss out on this golden find of a fast food restaurant. However, bring your wallet, it is not for the frugal. Expect to spend $10-$20 per guest. And, they have a traditional Patty Melt, served on grilled Rye Bread, Swiss Cheese and...
Read moreNormally I don't really review the first time at a restaurant. This new restaurant to this area had the type of customer flow that made me want to visit. The lines in the drive through told me people were going because of a good experience. Getting that first time experience here was not a high light of my day. Inside there was not a long line but it was moving steadily so no big deal. I got a counter person that had me convinced that she either hated her job or hated the customers. No smile, you had to ask if she ready for you, no motivation and doesn't give you the feeling that you are wanted. I end up getting a meal when I only wanted a burger and fry. I didn't want to bring notice because I felt it was going to cause problem. Dispute the fact I should have taken my money elsewhere she wasn't the only issue. I got my burger and what I got was not what I would call a "Steakburger". The burger I got was cooked by someone drying it out and flattened to the thickness of a pancake. You can cook a burger without pressing it flat but I don't think they can cook it properly. This was my first and I don't think I...
