One of the worst dining experiences I've had in Franco in awhile. Firstly, we ordered the special for two, asking for double brisket and the ribs that come with it. We were told that is fine to do (order double brisket that is). We receive our order and 2 sides were missing and our ribs were missing. Also they gave us pulled pork instead of double brisket. Okay that is fine, mistakes happen, we were offered a discount on our meal after bringing it to the waitresses attention. We go to use a sauce and the top pops out emptying an entire container onto my husband's lap. Like I said accidents happen, it is what follows that really rubs me the wrong way. Nearly every employee up front witnessed it but it took me going to the counter to get help. After finally receiving help a manager tells us our meal will be "taken care of". Our waiter ignored us multiple times, who mind you never gave us drink refills when our cups were empty half way through. We reach paying time and we was given a total of over 30 dollars, which means they wanted to make us pay in full rather then giving a discount or "taking care of" it like they said they would do. So i bring it to the managers attention and She said "I know about the sauce but what else happened?" Which showed me there was no communication before giving me our total. This particular manager made it seem like we was such a bother with her body language/facial expression/tone of voice. Our bill issue was resolved with us paying only for the other dish ordered. Will not be coming back for awhile which is a shame because not even a couple days ago our service was amazing, so amazing I brought my grandmother along to try it out. Her first impression was this experience I am...
Read moreSaw the good reviews while traveling and decided to check it out. The best tasting thing I had was the Pepsi. Portions are good sizes, but the quality of most of the meats my party tried were not good.
Good: Service was great, restaurant was clean. Without eating it, the food looked good. I didn't have it, but was told the pulled chicken was good. The rest of my party enjoyed the hush puppies.
Bad: Brisket was like rubber, so tough and lacking flavor that none of us finished a whole piece, so a lot went to waste. You guys are cooking too hot and fast to get this result. It was a huge disappointment to say the least. Ribs were tender, but tasted terrible. The rub used on them was so overwhelming of an odd flavor, they could not be enjoyed. Almost like teriyaki beef jerky flavor or maybe a Memphis rub gone wrong? Pulled pork suffered from a similar issue as the ribs. The rub used tasted similar, not in a good way. Collard Greens were ok. Cole Slaw was not good. Skip it
Overall I would not recommend this place unless their pit master learns how to properly cook BBQ. Throw out all of your seasonings and stick with salt and pepper. Add a little garlic powder if you want. I cannot speak for the sauces as good BBQ doesn't need sauce, but I didn't get far enough to try to redeem this bad meal with some.
I hate to give bad reviews, but when 3 BBQ loving people come in and unanimously dislike the place, I need to save the...
Read moreI had to come to Rocky Mount for an errand, and usually don't make it down there very often, but now that I've found this place, it is worth going out of my way to eat here.
During my meal it came to me what makes this place better than even the best chain restaurant that serves brisket and ribs - the owner of this place has shaken hands with the person who butchered the meat, and probably even the farmer who raised the animal. You can taste the difference in the freshness and quality of the meat, which is then smoked to perfection.
As someone who usually isn't a fan of slaw, I was truly pleasantly surprised at the option of hushpuppies instead. I chose Mac and Cheese as my side, and while not as good as my Grandma's, it is exceptional compared to most I've had at a restaurant. Then I also had to try the Brunswick Stew, which was probably the best I've had. As most are far too tomato-y, theirs is almost perfect, the only problem being the cup size was nowhere near enough.
My wife enjoyed her burger and fries as well, and we liked the BBQ sauce so much we had to buy a bottle.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and I hope we get to see...
