I ordered the cheesy rice and chicken without the veggies..i found veggies in it of which was disappointing..and rice was a little to salty.the peppers got my allergies in full force main reason i ordered without the veggies..other than that the place is clean..waiter very polite except he forgot to give my other party salad dressing for the shrimp salad didnt offer any and i had to go ask for some .was brought some from kroger of which i found strange..i would go back in the hopes my order is the way i ordered it..no veggies in my rice..i still gave a tip because i know the waiters depend on it and as i said He was polite and followed my directions other then the veggies but they were pretty busy on a Sunday Evening and im sure short staffed but the red pepper taste wont go away even after eating a banana..i also ordered a to go order by the time i got it home the tacos had fallen a part would of thought they. would of wrapped them up instead of in the container with the rice and beans..i know the waiter had nothing to do with that..i have to say the meals got to us pretty quick but i kinda felt rushed as i had mentioned i was waiting on my other party to arrive..i felt like my menu was snached up ..my other party obviously felt rushed and ordered within 20 seconds of viewing their menu. I understand the workers are doing what they are told to do but its imporant for the kitchen staff not to mix something in the customer asked without .i very well could of been alergic.made me feel like the veggies were picked out of the rice.i beleive in giving second chances so yes i suppose i would go back in the hopes that my dish is excately how i ordered it..no Veggies in my Rice! Overall i gave them 4 stars because the place was very clean and i did not have to wait long upon entering for my table..the Staff seemed nice .i just have to remember it was a BUSY Sunday Evening for them..They had a full house and there was no DRAMA of which I loved..I would reccommend if you are up for mexican then give this place a chance..Prices are very Reasonable and chips and sauces are served upon being seated and if you run out they give you more..just need to add more of the white sauce seems like you get more salsa .Theres alot of chips in the basket and cant really complain when thats Free..but honestly the red pepper taste gave me a headache..i guess no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes however the dish would of been Perfect had the mix up with the veggies werent in it..i came back for a second visit.service and food was excellent..thanks for the improvement of this very tasty dish i order it every time other than that i would...
Read moreThis restaurant normally has good food and really good service. They do have a couple of faults that you should be aware of though. First, you don’t get an itemized bill that shows exactly what you are paying for. Second, when dining with a group they refuse to bring individual bills and instead insist on splitting the checks at the register, even if you make that specific request. Third, if you are the last to pay and someone else’s bill wasn’t correct you are expected to pay for the others unpaid food items. Yes, I know this from experience. And lastly, today I learned that they are simply busy enough that they don’t care whether you dine there or not. Of our four plates two had mistakes. They ran out of fries and substituted onion rings instead without asking, and left the bacon and BBQ sauce off of the Alamo burgers. I showed the mistakes to the server and he insisted that the burgers were “as ordered” even though all 10 people at the table assured him that he was mistaken. I said whatever, hopefully we can just get a discount at the register since my boys don’t really care for onion rings (and didn’t eat them) and didn’t get the burgers that they ordered. Unfortunately our server was also checking us out and when I asked for that discount he flatly refused. He said he had done nothing wrong. I mentioned that we are regulars and if he couldn’t offer any discount maybe we shouldn’t come back for a while and was floored by the smug reply of “Whatever, it doesn’t matter “. So that response was enough for me to avoid this restaurant and let you know just how little their customers...
Read moreI have been dining at El Rio since they have opened, but since they have reopened it has went down hill. I went to El Rio three times the week of new years, the first two times were decent nothing unexpected. The last visit was with a couple of friends who had never ate at the restaurant. Service was terrible, our waiter never came back to our table after taking our drink order. When we finally got a servers attention she refused to help us and went to stand in the corner of the store. As we were trying to leave one of the waitresses notice we were upset and attempted to help us. That is when the waiter we had came over and began getting very loud with my out of town guest. Saying it was their fault for not understanding the menu and that we should have told him directly. Although, he was no where to be found because after he took our drink order he never come back to the table. Then the food was served very unpresentable as if it was sitting for a while. As well as the drinks tasted water down/ like carbonation. Needless to say after all my years of dining at El Rio this experience was horrendous and very unacceptable. Coming from someone who has worked in the food industry as well as a server. 2/10 do...
