Pak Sweets delivers an authentic Halwa Puri experience that stands out for its quality and genuine flavor. The moment the plate arrives, it’s clear this is more than just a meal—it’s a nostalgic journey. The puris are perfectly fried—light, crisp, and not greasy—reminiscent of the breakfasts served on busy Sunday mornings in Karachi.
The chana is rich and well-spiced, with just the right amount of heat and depth to evoke that unmistakable Karachi street-side flavor. Paired with soft, mildly tangy aloo bhujia, the combination feels familiar and comforting. The halwa is smooth and fragrant, with just enough sweetness to balance the meal, and a clear note of cardamom that adds to its authenticity.
Alongside the Halwa Puri, the freshly squeezed orange juice is worth mentioning—it’s vibrant, naturally sweet, and a perfect, refreshing complement to the richness of the dish.
Pak Sweets also offers a wide selection of traditional mithai, all of which tasted fresh and well-prepared. We ordered a variety, and each one delivered on flavor and quality.
Sanju’s warm and helpful nature adds to the overall experience. In a particularly noteworthy moment, when we pointed to one piece of mithai to include in our order, he candidly mentioned that it wasn’t as fresh and recommended a better alternative. That honesty and attentiveness are rare, and they reflect the integrity behind the service. His genuine care for customers and pride in the food elevate the visit beyond just a stop for breakfast.
In every bite, Pak Sweets captures the essence of Karachi. For anyone craving a true taste of home, this Halwa Puri—and more—is an experience that truly...
Read moreUpdated 11/2022 Still the ONLY and BEST - #1 best place for tasty desi sweets, savories, HUGE samosas (see picture!) and puri halwa! The samosas are larger and tastier than the other places and they give you a generous amount on the puri halwa plate. We went today (Friday late afternoon) and they were still serving puri halwa so both of us had it. What a nice surprise! Sweets are still made fresh daily and now they have biryani’s, rolls and chicken dishes that all looked delicious from the other tables we saw that ordered main dishes while we were there. We love that the flavors have been consistent all these years and the Confectioner chef is still there and making the BEST quality samosas and sweets on all of Devon!! Thanks for your super friendly service This is the ONLY place you need to go for sweets, savories and tea snacks on Devon! We’ve been coming here for over 25 years and love it. It is under new ownership but still has the same great master confectioner making all the goodies! Saleem the owner is super friendly and makes sure you are satisfied! Excellent top quality ingredients and all hand made. If you go to other places on Devon, they are either using machines (mass production) or lesser quality ingredients! The shop has been renovated and looks great. Huge variety at good price and goodies always taste the same as they keep the consistency at 100%. Excellent place for wedding sweets, iftar snacks, parties and of course…puri halwa. Puris are super fluffy, soft...
Read moreFOOD: Halwa Puri, Very authentic taste, maybe even better when you compare it to that of Rasheed Sweets back home in Islamabad. The portions are reasonable for 1 or maybe two-person breakfast. The plate consists of halva(sweet dish), which is of the orange variety, Channa(garbanzo) masala, which are very soda-ish but in the best possible way with the right amount of masala for a breakfast meal, then you get aloo (potato) masala which was kinda cold but the taste was all there. In addition, you get achar (pickles) and some zeera raita (cumin yoghurt) and served with 3 puris. Tea, the tea is pretty good, made with full-cream milk and you can taste it not sure which patti (leaves) they use. AMBIANCE: I cane around 12 PM, Lots of seating, air conditioned, clean and quite, if you suspend the fact that you’re in America, everything else feels just like Pakistan. COST: 1 plate of Halwa Puri, 2 additional puris and 1 tea costed me $12.29 plus tax and tip. OVERALL….. Will definitely recommend, to Pakistanis looking to taste the tastes of back home and to everyone else wanting to try the Pakistani food while in the...
