Racist/Classist staff but great food.
After Halloween trick or treat with my kids thought of trying out this place for first time. We are brown and on top of that was wearing Halloween costume. From entering restaurant the staff treated as if we do not belong in the restaurant and off course all customers and staff was predominantly Caucasian.
We ignored and went to order. As soon as the server came and served us with ice water without asking for drink , we asked for no ice and got commented “should have known” which had hints of racism behind it.
Again we chose to ignore. Bread and all came. We ordered portobello capriccio as appetizer . Me and my spouse were given plates and silverware but my kid was not given. I did the mistake of asking if they have sangria and was given a really weird expression as if I’ve done something terribly wrong.
Btw the mushroom dish was one of the best appetizers I ever had in NWA.
For main course we ordered chicken piccata and my wife ordered the pesto gnocchi pasta with chicken. At that point a lady started attending us and supposedly she can’t understand our English, and took help of an older server or manager. This person behavior is online with what we expect in such restaurant and he at least treated us with respect. He provided silverware for my kid and plates for her and tended us nicely.
In the end though our bill had a 20% gratuity auto added which is very unlikely in NWA or anywhere in USA for a small party size and it’s not also mentioned anywhere. It felt they have assumed we won’t tip and hence this is also a very racist/classist behavior.
I’d give them try one more time just because food is so good but if behavior doesn’t change, that’d be my last visit there.
And if anyone think I’m ranting because if tip, I typically spend around $3k/month in restaurants and this was a
Read moreMy wife and I ate here last night with some friends who'd recommended it. Overall, I can't say the experience was worth the price that we paid.
I had the off-menu special which was four-cheese tortellini with steak. The actual tortellini were pretty good (though, just a touch salty; likely the sauce) and the sauce was a gorgonzola sauce that was also pretty good. My two main issues had to do with the steak, but from two different points. They asked me about the cook I wanted on the steak, so I asked for medium rare; the steak came out full-on well done. It was also cut into rather large pieces which made it awkward to eat with the tortellini. The second thing with the steak actually had to do with the price. When the waiter presented the specials, he said it was four-cheese tortellini WITH steak. As in, the steak is included in the cost of the dish. When I received the bill, I noticed I'd been charged an extra $12 for the steak (the actual tortellini were around $18). I honestly probably wouldn't have ordered it had I known there was a $12 price difference and it just seemed kind of scam-ish to me.
My wife had one of the other specials which was a halibut with a lemon cream sauce. The fish was dry and overcooked and the lemon sauce was extremely lemon-y (like, more than you'd expect a lemon sauce to be). I also think her dish was WAAAAYYYY overpriced, even considering that it was halibut (her dish was $44, which, to be fair, we didn't ask about before ordering). We also had a bottle of wine (around $28).
In the end, the total bill was something akin to $118 (this was for two entrees and a bottle of wine; with tip it was around $130). I definitely would rather have gone to the Preacher's Son or Atlas in Fayetteville for that kind of cost, especially when the food was overall just okay; not terrible, but...
Read moreFrom the moment we stepped into Capriccio, we were enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. Despite a bustling dining room, we were seated promptly, which was a pleasant start. Although it took some time for our server to take our drink orders, approximately 30 minutes, this minor hiccup did little to dampen our spirits, thanks to the cozy ambiance that Capriccio effortlessly maintains.
The main course was a testament to Capriccio's culinary prowess. I opted for the Chicken Parmesan, and my wife chose the Chicken Puttanesca. Both dishes were served in generous, adult-sized portions that challenged our appetites, yet were so delectably prepared that we savored every bite without hesitation. The quality of the food spoke volumes of the care and expertise behind Capriccio's kitchen doors.
Dessert was another highlight of our evening. The chocolate cake I ordered was nothing short of amazing – moist, rich, and utterly satisfying. My wife's choice of Ricotta Cheesecake was equally impressive. She remarked on its smooth, almost creamy texture, which was a delightful departure from the denseness typical of traditional cheesecake, finding it to be an exquisite end to our meal.
Our visit to Capriccio was not just about enjoying great food; it was an experience that combined a delightful atmosphere with culinary excellence. Despite the initial wait for service, the overall quality of our meal and the warmth of the environment left us with a lasting impression. We are already looking forward to our next visit, eager to explore more of what Capriccio has to offer. It's a place where food and ambiance come together to create a truly enjoyable...
