One thing we are blessed with her in NW Arkansas is choices - especially when it comes to Hispanic (whether Mexican, Salvadorian, etc.) restaurants, which is great since we love both the food and the options!
We had company in this weekend who loves "Mexican Food" so we opted to try El Jazmin (our first visit too).
What's to say? A small, nondescript corner business in a small strip mall with a vape/glass/CBD shop in the same strip. Nothing really to attract but a black and white sign on the building.
But walk in - and this little place hit the three most important buttons for us: 1 - Great Food 2 - Affordable 3 - Friendly Service
You walk in and place your order at the window. This place is obviously a Salvadorian restaurant that also has a few "Mexican" selections for broader appeal. Still a reasonably (welcome) menu, and our order was taken by a young man who was not only enthusiastic, but extremely helpful. With order placed, we found a seat (just a few tables in this place)
My beverage of choice was a blended mix of pineapple and mango - made fresh in-house... really quite good (so good, in fact, that my wife who isn't usually a fruity drink fan ordered one herself after taking two drinks from mine!)
I love fresh guacamole - but my wife is a true Guac connoisseur - and the fresh guac is very good and well-balanced, served with small, fresh-fried tortilla "bites". Off to a really good start.
When our food came out - oh my! I ordered the "Papusa Loco", which is kind of a house "specialty" - it is a giant plate-size papua with most of the ingredients they offer in their standard papua, all in the one. I was able to eat a little over â and found myself fool (with lunch for tomorrow to take home!). My wife ordered a 1 shrimp and 1bean papusa and was VERY happy. Our friend ordered the Pachuga a la Plancha - a very generous chicken breast, grilled nicely (still moist and tender, well-seasoned) with rice, beans and fresh corn tortillas. His daughter ordered two Tacos Pollo - they were two of the best-looking tacos I've seen - well plated and she loved them.
Overall - this little place may lack in space and "atmosphere" - but it more than makes up in really great food, super-friendly service, and quite reasonable prices. We will most definitely be back - as they have earned a "favorites" designation! As a bonus - my wife's office isn't too far away for a quick...
Read moreThe papusas were not too bad, I liked the sauce that came with them and cabbage slaw. But I didnât enjoy the take out process, I placed my order online and PAID online. I went to pick up my order and leave but then told I needed to pay, and after showing the website receipt and my bank statement showing that I did indeed pay, I was still essentially called a liar regarding it. I said forget it and I would just call my bank for a refund since she claimed I didnât pay and I told her I wouldnât pay again when she said I needed too, it wouldâve made it 30$ for 5 papusas if I paid twice, no way. The website apparently doesnât have the pricing up to date, and she told me to and I repeat ânever buy online always call and place your orderâ due to the 25 cent difference for the papusas, but if you open the website and it says you can purchase online, why would anyone call in their order when it lets you pay online. She told me to just take them because they would just throw it away, but If youâre going to have a functional to-go website that accepts your cards to pay, donât get angry at customers when it doesnât work...
Read moreMy wife and I travel for work and once in awhile we run into some absolute diamonds. El Jasmin is one of those. Very warm atmosphere, the waitress and her family were in the back cooking and singing to music and laughing. This love was represented whole heartedly in the food they served. The food... My goodness the food! Absolutely the best meal we've had Ina long time. Every dish was delicious and savory. The pickled cabbage was delightful and I have to say, perfect. If you are anywhere near this restaurant in your travels it is worth the detour....
